I feel so bad for them. The poor bettas are so pretty and trapped in the tiny little cups. I was also very surprised when I saw KOI BETTAS at PETCO!!!

Why surprised ? Betta, especially Plakat, multicoloured, fancy, nemo, koi, candy, galaxy, are the most trendy ones. Millions are sold every year and millions die every year....

Moreover, all these multicoloured Betta/Plakat carry the "marble gene" that will make them changing colours and patterns between (more or less) 6 and 12 months old. That's why they're sold at 3-4 months of age.....

usually at my petco they only have single colored veiltails or crowntail. i was surprised to see the more trendy bettas.

i believe it’s a galaxy koi betta.
Thank you.. looks so beautiful .. i saw a male blood red betta which is displayed as a NEW item in petco last week.. wow i couldn't turn myself.. and working on setting up a tank gathering details..

i was crazily looking for cube aquariums and found that bettas prefer more surface area and rectangular tank. Really like to have a tank with a betta, corys and some shrimp. has to do more reading.

These are tanks a Betta would love : a jungle, floating plants, pH 7 - GH and KH below 8 - temp. 25°C - dim light - dark substrate - and of course NH3 = 0 - NO2 = 0 - NO3 < 10.

Thank you seem the tanks are almost cubes other than the last one. Dim light this is first time i am learning. so we have to select plants based on the dim light..do you have any light recommendations that i can grow plants with out any co2, the only tank i had right now is LifeGrad 10g which i added Organic dirt, black sand and carribsea flora.. it has many plants and StingRay 2 light and i do see some deficiency in iron and dosing NPK and Fe lately once a week and do see results.. i have a Honey Gourami and 5 cloud tail minnows.. also used to have couple of corys (donated them to petco after i was advised the tank is too small for corys)... i am very happy with honey gourami and stopped my temptation to add one more... its getting more brighter day by day and love pulling out the plants eating plants all the time..

Any Anubias, any Microsorum, Bolbitis heudeloti, Ceratophyllum demersum/submersum, any Cryptocoryne, Najas guadalupensis... for these plants 20 lm/l is fine.

If you want Corydoras keep in mind they want soft sand a dedicated beach that is half the size of the floor area, preferably lengthwise. You will have to favour the smallest Corydoras such as habrosus if your tank is less than 100 cm long. Also they are schooling fishes that want to be at least 10 individuals.
