i dont think he looks like the green guy he does look like a very dull colored jack dempsey

Thank you I did think that at first but the bright tail and different body shape made me think otherwise

No its not a Severum or a Jack Dempsey. I have a couple of guesses but could do with some better pictures. Current guesses are Salvini, Festae or Ornatus. Could be totally wrong though.

Cichlasoma festae, nasty little pieces of work when they mature.

bad.

thing jack Dempsey temperament squished into a 6 inch fish that has an inferiority complex and hates others.

Thank you all for identifying this fish would you also be able to help identify the sex of my Jack dempsy and if the red terror becomes to agressive I will rehome him as its bit fair on the other fish but if I do rehome him I'll try and breed my jack dempsey the tank is big enough for a breeding pair

they grow to about 6 inches and show colour when they mature, which can be around 6-12 months, depending on how well fed and cared for it is. Most colour occurs when they are breeding and they are pretty boring when not breeding.

we need a full picture of the jack dempsey, showing its fins. Males have longer more pointed dorsal (top) and anal (bottom) fins.
