Snail ID

Can someone tell me what this snail is? It appeared in my tank two weeks ago quite a bit smaller. Apparently there must be more because I think those are eggs under it?

It is a bladder snail.

Do I get rid of it? Are these it's eggs too?

It depends. I keep my snails because they help keep the aquarium free of algae and I have carnivore critters who love eating them. They can overtake your tank, though. You can pick them and remove them by hand, or place a piece of organic lettuce (to avoid introducing pesticides into the tank) and watch them come over to eat it, then remove the leaf with all snails attached to it. You'll find their eggs everywhere, they are prolific breeders.

The eggs in the second photo look square? If they are, the only snails I know that lay square eggs are assassin snails but you don't mention having those.
