@NCaquatics , a couple of my baby fish have copper colored dorsal fins and top of their head. Is this because they are a mix of regular bronze and albino? Very pretty but different. Have you seen it before?
I find a good chunk of my babies too had very red colored fins.
This one is black as hes a hybrid however.

Thanks! I didn’t notice how copper colored they were until I moved them to a larger tank. It surprised me a little.
Theyre much more colourful than I anticipated. I bought aeneus babies from the store, not much larger than the ones I've sold already, but they were practically colorless. But probably because they were in bad shape and sickly (I still have them and theyre fine healthy adults now).
So take it as a compliment to your care that yours are colourful

@NCaquatics ...one of my babies is almost black. How could that happen? Other pic is “Stubby”. The good Lord forgot to give him a back half. Lol!

So it happened with yours then too! And you dont have schultzei cories in yours, so thats a relief for me, my weird dark ones may not be hybrids then lol

Can you explain a little more? I can’t figure out how he got that color. Some of the paler ones just barely passed albino. They have a blue sheen to them. Lol!
I had a couple babies come out really dark and questioned if maybe mine were hybrids with my black schultzei. But you dont have a schultzei adult in yours but are still darker, meaning mine may not be hybrids after all.Can you explain a little more? I can’t figure out how he got that color. Thinking its just a colour phase/variation among the babies that they may grow out of.

I've noticed that NCAquatics has seemingly vanished from the site. Hope she's alright.
I still have my two baby schulzei and two habrosus. Found a new fry yesterday in the tank with pygmaeus, habrosus, and aspidoras. Could be any of those. Time will tell, so long as it survives.

I have 11. . 4 from first batch and 7 from second batch. They are all in a 29G tank along with my cherry barbs that were born at the same time. Funny, I got 2 albinos and then one that is black as the ace of spades! I have no idea where he came from but he’s beautiful!
