When I put my baby cories up for sale someone offered a trade for some baby BN plecos, it was a bit sooner than planned to get BN plecos again, given we lost our Archie recently, but it was too coincidental to not take the offer, especially for the mutation they are.

Awwwww!! They are so cute and pretty! I want to get a Bristle nose Pleco so bad!

I got a chocolate ancistrus for my 29 gallon tank slightly over a year ago (my LFS said it was the same thing as a BN pleco) Sadly, it passed the next day with blood coming out of its mouth and behind. I had no idea what happened and I think it was my fault so I never got another one. I still don't know what happened to him :(

That sounds more like trauma, gotta wonder if maybe they netted it badly :(

Maybe that's it. I don't remember exactly how they caught it but they got it trapped in a corner and kind of smooshed it against the tank bottom while trying to catch him. :( I felt really bad for him but he was swimming normally so I thought he would be alright. Is a chocolate Ancistrus the same thing as a BN pleco?

aww! oats is my favorite out of the two!! this makes me actually want to consider getting a BN plec :D
they're just so tiny compared to the cory! I'm interested to see what they look like when they get a bit bigger! but I'll be patient, can't get the tiny time back haha

Oats was hiding most of today, but Charlie came out for a little this afternoon.

BN plecos are awesome plecos. They're quite active and not as shy for most plecos. And stay under 6 inches so theyre easier to house too. Plus dont need as strong of a current as some plecos and are suitable for a very wide range of parameters. Plus BN come in many different colour mutations. Albino, snow white albino, standard, calico, super red, lemon, etc.
Theyre huge goofballs.
We had one before these guys but we lost him recently. We miss him a lot, we finally broke the news to our kid that he passed away, so hes a bit bummed but he is loving the new babies too. Hes always looking for them.

These are great pictures of your new BN's, beautiful colouration I must say.

Lucky you!

BTW Charlie is an inspired choice of name...……..;)

I asked my kid what he wanted to name them, he chose the names lol one of his best friends is a girl named Charlie so I think that might be why lol

@AilyNC more photos of the plecos can be found here :)

Oats is more shy, preferring to hide out around the heater, but she/he came out in the open today.

Oats again, shy

Charlie is out and about all over, likes the anubias a lot. I'm starting to see what looks like "stubble" on the sides of Charlie's mouth, so I think he may turn out to be male. I'll have to see if those develop into bristles.

They've been cleaning up my diatom bloom and the biofilm bloom on the driftwood, as well as seem to relish the bottom feeder bug bites that land on the plants too. I got Charlie to try some zucchini and he seemed to like it. Oats was not so convinced. But at least they take prepared foods.

Oh wow  definitely gonna be my favourite thread  they are so teeny and so beautiful
