driftwood water logging eta

I floated mine because I had no fish in the tank. I would be paranoid it'll sick and fall on a fish and kill it. With fish in the tank I'd probably use a bucket. Or put it in the tank and when it starts to sick use a bucket. Or use a bucket now and keep a towel over the bucket to keep bugs out.

Very much the reason I didn't move to America - bugs.
Or just put your tanks in your ol' knapsack and leave the country. I hear they allow one 20g and a carry-on nano. May have to pay extra for the water, fish, and spider wood

I have 2 pieces of Aqua One azalea root in an old tank in the garden. They've been there about 3 weeks. They took 3 or 4 days to sink, but they're still making the water cloudy. I last change the water on Thursday afternoon. It's just gone slightly cloudy again on Sunday morning. This is a lot better than 3 weeks ago as the water went so cloudy within hours that I couldn't see through the water.

Like HoldenOn, the roots are too big to fit in a pan, so I've been pouring boiling water over them every time I change the water. Some of the reviews on this wood say that they killed fish, but I do wonder if that's because they put it in the tank too soon. That's why I'm waiting until they no longer cloud the water.

My wife gets a bit upset when I heat up PVC pipe in the oven, she can be quite unreasonable :)

With lots of aluminum foil, you can use a outdoor grill on low heat.
Heating pvc pipe will release all sorts of toxins you're inhaling. Be careful :(
