Please Help! Really Urgent :(

So i woke up at 8 AM today, then I was going to go out for morning run, but then i found a package then i thought it was for my family member. But then at 9 AM when i got home, my dad said that the package was for me! I dont even order anything. And then when i go to my room i check that there's a Note on the Bottom of the packaging. And it was from my neighbourhood. They're going to move out and they can't keep their BETTA FISH!? and i was like maybe only 1 or 2. But then when i open it. There's 7 Bettas ! Omg i only have 3 Un-used Aquarium. My 10 Gallon is for Plant Propogation and 2 of them is 3&5 Gallon. Then i go to my reputable pet store to give them the betta. But then they're closed until mid of August!!. I tried to go Local Pet Store. Most of them are closed and 4 of Local Pet store Refuse the betta without giving me a reason.
Please Help what should i do ?
This is what all i have in my house. I dont have any Bucket that can be use please help. Idk what to do. Having a panic attack Rn

Find any containers that you can. Make sure they have never had soap in them.

If you need to you can add them to a community short term if the stocking is ok

First of all, take a deep breath... So you have a 10 gallon you can divide, a five-gallon you could divide and a three-gallon for one. That's five. If you're going out to the hardware store you can just pick up a couple of plastic storage containers like 10 gallons. I don't know your heating situation but I assume you got that covered and I'm also going to assume you know how to set up a tank. It'll be a fish in cycle but low bioload so shouldn't be an issue. Any plants you got that grow in ambient light just chuck em in. You could set up a cheap as sponge filter setup on all the tanks running off a couple of air pumps. No need to stress out.

That is the bigger container i have. I tried to condition the water first. Because idk that the pet stores are going to refuse.
Its only been 15 min. Going to check at 30 min.
I dont have any budget for any external tech.
For betta i dont conditions a heater bc i live in a tropical country. I'll try to find a divider for 10 gallons and put some Amazon frog bit from my 66 gals.
My community tank at 66 gals stocked with congo. Bad idea, dont want to mix them together. My 55 gals is really high up. Around 60-70 cm high. I dont think i can put betta in there

ngl you sound like you know what your doing

I have experienced to keep betta for 1 year. But not this much, is it okay to keep them until mid-august in that small container?
Godness. They're going to suffer there. hopefully only keep them until Mid August

Idk know what it's like in Indonesia but here in NZ selling fish is really easy and by the look of those betta you could get a reasonable price for them, definitely sell them.

Since it's only for a couple of weeks until you can get a store or someone else to take them, it's okay. You're not keeping them in there for fun or for life.
Betta breeders keep bettas in containers like that, maybe check some out and see how they maintain them. Three main essentials;

Heating: Isn't an issue since you're in a tropical climate.
Oxygenation: Bettas are labyrinth fish, so while an airstone would be much better for them, they can make do and breath from the surface, so should survive, even though it isn't ideal and shouldn't be long term.

Filtration: I think is your biggest issue. No filters and uncycled. Daily water changes and monitoring them will be essential. If you have some fast growing live plants, adding some strands of those to the jars will help.

To try to improve things for them to get through this stressful time, I'd suggest the live stem plants being the first thing to buy, barter or steal (not really steal, but you know what I mean). Stick the stems in the jar, ideally so the bettas can rest on the stems while still being close to the surface, since they'll be having to breath from the surface more often, and having to keep swimming up from the bottom to do this will tire and stress them out even more. Post ads on whatever buy/sell/swap sites are available in your area, to see if you can rehome one or two of them to good homes ASAP, rather than just waiting and hoping a pet store will take all seven at once in a couple of weeks. The more you can quickly give to new homes, the better.

Deep breaths and try not to panic! Someone dumping fish on you without even a warning is really dumb and cruel, and it's not your fault. You do the best you can with what you have.

Thanks! I put single frogbit in, barely have space for myself now, need to use my chair for laptop to do google meet right now. , Hopefully i can found someone to house them ASAP . I dont have any floating stem plant to propogate. I found old hang on back filter to use, i can't find any divider, i have the glass from picture frame, fit perfectly for 5 gals but i can't find anything to block the betta sight (well you know using glass divider for betta is kinda useless). And i need to cut off light for 10 gallon since its full of algae in that aquarium, really stress out today,.

Edit : i can't find any Plug place for that table place. Probably going to replace 5 gallon there so i can plug filter, can't do it right now.

Try not to stress too much! The light isn't a worry, the fish will appreciate low light, especially when stressed, and the algae is doing no harm to the fish whatsoever, so forget about that for now too!


You said that you used the tank to propagate plants before, and you have two large tanks... do they have any plants in them at all, even if they're not fast growing stem plants?

Can you ask your neighbour who gave you the Bettas for their tanks (if they still have them)?

You can also ask them how the managed to keep so many Bettas.
Most people will use many containers or big bottles like what you are doing now.
I have a neighbour who used to keep many Bettas in glass or plastic bottles.
But its a lot of work because you have to change the tank water frequently since there is no filter in it.

You may have to use a lid to cover the top in case they jump out.

I do have plant in 55&66 gals. But most of the plant are Attached to rock & driftwood. (Anubias, Bucephalandra, Java Fern) Except for my Amazon Sword & Cabomba. Both need a really deep substrate and alr esthabilised and i dont have any substrate to use.

I tried talk to one of the worker but they said they alr in destination.So i dont want to be a teenager creep that watch worker do their job i was standing there for around 25 mins before i managed to talk to one of the worker, My phone unfortunately died because i used for music while i was doing a morning run. I tried to contact their son now, but no answer at all " ...

You can leave cabomba or propagated java fern plants to float, and that would work better in fact for the fish. The cabomba won't grow well like that of course, but we're not talking about propagating it in the jars, just using some stems to help the bettas rest and breathe.

The jars are small, but also tall vertically, and bettas appreciate a place to rest near the surface. This is even more crucial since the water won't be oxygenated, and they're going to have to go down to the bottom to rest, and get back to the surface, vertically, to breathe.

It's up to you of course, they're your plants, and no one will force you to trim them. That's just what I would do if the betta will be in those jars for weeks without filters, a cycle, or O2.

It is a myth that you cannot keep betta's together.females are fine and even males as ling as they are not aggressive. Generally speaking a smaller male will just avoid a larger male .females are no problem at all in large numbers

I'm going to have to disagree. Female bettas can live together, but sometimes it doesn't work. Female bettas can turn on each other randomly. It's also quite stressful for them to live in a sorority.
Male bettas together is an absolute no no. In the wild, bettas can live in one body of water together, but that's because there is enough room for them all to avoid each other. In an aquarium, we can't possibly give them enough space. They will fight until one of them is either seriously hurt or dead.
