No unfortunately that is a male guppy you can tell by the dorsal fin on the belly. Male guppy with a bloated stomach is not normal. They can also become bloated due to constipation if they are overfed but most likely it has dropsy if your not over feeling him

Unfortunately your guppy is a male, you can tell its gender by looking at the fin near the tail and its anal vent, its called gonopodium which is used to fertilise a female.
However, female guppies have anal fin which is a shape of a triangle.
Chunky guppy can either be constipated, bloated or has dropsy.
Do you see pine-coning when looking at him from the top?

Hi thank you for the reply and didn’t realise you could tell the sex that way that’s great to know and no doesn’t seem to be pine coming and belly has gone down now I’ve separated him does this mean he was just bloated ?

Yeah he was probably just bloated. My guppies are pigs and will eat anything and get bloated often

I agree with @JuiceBox52 mine are pigs as well and can get bloated. I feed mine once a day and I have 1 day where they don’t eat at all for their health and I’ve been doing it for almost 10 months like that and have had no problem except when I bought a fish that had parasites and gave it to my 1 tank  but I was able to treat them all and everyone is doing better now:)

That’s brilliant thank you i shall give them a day off see how that goes I have a friend with a mollie With a payed belly is this a male or female and is it dropsy it has I’ll attach pictures thanks in advance

Probably pregnant. If it has been with a female at any point in time in the last 10+ months it will be

Yes it definitely helps the health of my fish and they don’t mind going a day without food. That’s definitely a female and looks pregnant I have 5 pregnant Dalmatian Mollies right now and she looks just like them. When the fish are bought they may not look pregnant at first but they can carry the males sperm for roughly 10 months fertilizing eggs every 30 days from the stored sperm without a male needing to be present. Hope that helps :)

Kellya i have 9 guppies besides other fish and they get fed twice daily then i drop a minitab in for my corys and my hubby keeps telling me to starve them but  what about my corys.

Your husband is correct. Your corys will be fine if they skip one day Hun. It’s called a starvation day It’s for the fish so their digestive system can fully digest everything they have eaten over the 6 days. it also promotes healthier fish. I’ve noticed a huge difference in my fish since I started to do it that way. They will nibble at the gravel picking up whatever then can to eat the day you don’t feed them but that’s perfectly normal. If fish could have access to food every time they go to the top to make the owner feel bad they would over eat and become very ill they don’t realize that but we know what’s better for them lol
