One of my adult Male CPDs has a white "pimple."
I removed him for now.

10 g
6 WCMM
4 CPD
2 Amano
I just noticed during water change.
I think it came fast, I spend a lot of time watching my fish and would like to think that I would have noticed this

Ammonia, nitrite and nitrate?
Water change schedule?
 
I need to get new vials, I have broken them all. I've been negligent to get more, that was to happen right about the same time I made the laminated colour chart.

I change the water regularly,
50% one week with gravel vacuum at high traffic feeding spots,
75-80% 7-10 days after, also increasing gravel siphoning.

This also includes about a gallon total in top offs during the week.
 
It's like something is trying to poke through, I'm really worried. I have 3m 1f in with the minnows. I've not witnessed any aggression between males, which does not insure it doesn't happen. But this looks like it's on the inside.
 
As you can see, as of an hour or two ago he was acting normal, I did tank maintenance, everybody ate, went to get a picture of new plant layout and that's when I saw it.
I think I mentioned that I removed him.

With the planting tongs or scissors !!!
Do fish bleed? Omg I am without a clue.
It was bulging, though, I'm sure of that.
 
it's probably just excess mucous.

do a 75% water change and gravel clean the substrate every day for a week and see how it looks after a few days.
make sure any new water is free of chlorine/ chloramine before it's added to the tank.
 
Was he also swimming strangely?
Sorry this is not going to help but I once had that on a CPD and its swimming looked kind of laboured. It did die and the wound had ruptured. A few months later I saw another with exactly the same symptoms, only this time it recovered without treatment.
I have only seen it the twice and assumed they got caught on a chunk of wood, or possibly arguing, although most of their arguments seem fairly mild.
 
No strange swimming, no isolating. Pretty dense plants, though, so with 1f to 3m...(not planned), there could have been aggression I didn't observe.

I isolated him right away and after a while I went and looked and the white part was gone, but now there is a pink patch in it's place.

What's your advice as far as returning him to the community tank?

I agree with @Colin_T. Daily water changes is the best thing you can do now. Hope he gets better! :good:
