Hi. Some advice please. How do I k ow if my mollys are fighting? They going round in circles with each other and have been for the last 10 minutes

Do you know the genders of the fish? They may be mating. I can sex them for you if you have pics. You can also post a video on youtube and give the us the link so we can watch their behavior

I think my balloon molly may have something wrong and that's why the bigger molly has been at him. He's now on the bottom of the tank upside down so think he is dying. They have never done this before.

Okay I'm gonna as a few questionsso we can help. What size tank? What other fish do you have and how many?

Did you test for ammonia, nitrite and nitrate? If so what are the numbers?

How long has the tank been set up and how long have you had the fish?

How often do you do water changes and how much water do you change each time?

Does the mollie appear to be gasping for air?

Do a 75% water change immediately

Do you by chance know the GH of your water? You should be able to find it on your local water providers website, or you could call them.

Balloon mollies are a genetically modified species, they are bred in a way that squishes all of their organs in to one place, making them more prone to disease

I have a 125 litre tank.
I have 19 fish
4 platys
2 mollys
Rainbow shark
3 Dwarf gharami
Bristlenose plec
1 yoyo loach
3 Neon tetra
2 swordfish
2 bettas

Tank has been set up for 5 months but an upgrade from a previous tank

So 1 have zero nitrate and zero nitrite, ph 6.5, gh 30 and kh in between 0 and 40.

The molly (poorly one) we have had about 14 months

The newer molly about 3 months

I do 25-30% weekly which was yesterday

Not gasping just breathing normally just upside down and not really moving

What is your ammonia? Is the tank heavily planted? Otherwise. You should have some nitrates. 2 bettas in same tank??? Can we get a pic? PH should be between 7 and 8ppm for Molly’s.

Your water is soft, which means it is not suitable for mollies, guppies, swordtails and platies, as well as rainbowfish, their bodies are not designed to live in soft water and will be prone to disease and will suffer an early death, hard water fish need minerals that they absorb from the water. In soft water they do not have this, it is like being starved.

Are both bettas female?

A pic would be very helpful

I have just cut back some of the plants, and only did a water change yesterdatly

I cannot get the pH above 6-6.5 since I've had the new tank
The ph is not the only thing that would need changed, it Needs to be hardened as well. But that would make it unsuited for your other fish
