Heyo guys!

I have already documented this tank somewhat whilst asking for some advice on stocking ideas.

Since then, I have decided on what I wanted to do and started building this tank exactly how I wanted. I thought it would be fun to start this thread as day 1, setting up the tank, even though it has progressed further. I will update daily until I am caught up to where I am currently at.

So! Day1:
Fluval Flex 15g.
Fluval plant and shrimp stratum

Just started getting the cycle going with mature media!

I have every intention to for next month! I need to do a few more tweaks. :-
 
Initial setup with rocks and wood... trying to get a good basis for design.

Is the java fern planted in the substrate? The rhizome needs to be above the substrate or it will rot. The small hair-like roots are OK buried but not the stem-like rhizome.
 
I agree with @essjay, java fern does best planted on/in driftwood/rocks.

I love the FLEX! It’s sooooo cool looking. Maybe when I get a more stable job, I will be able to get one! :lol: :rolleyes:

It is lightly planted in the substrate. For now. This isn't my first rodeo.

Intentionally left the light on long AND the tank is by a window. Wanted to get some algae growth. I got more than I bargained for haha.

3x Otos and 2 ghost shrimp clean up crew. Fingers crossed the puffers play "kinda" nice.
