Just wondering....

so I started out with 11 different cichlids...I now have 7 (one death being my fault) others unknown reasoning! My
7 I have are happy and healthy! I have a 50 gal tank....I kinda want some more fish! The research I have done says cichlids would be with only other cichlids and even then it could become a problem! So I guess my question is whether or not to get more lol! Alsoooo are sucker fish safe around cichlids??? Or even a snail? Something to help with maintenance of the tank?

It depends on exactly what cichlids you have. For example, south American cichlids like apistogrammas or both species of rams should be kept as the only cichlid species with at least one shoal of upper swimming non-cichlids. But Rift Lake cichlids are usually kept in a cichlid only tank.

This is why NickAu asked what species your cichlids are.

Well I don’t know if that’s a compliment or not Collin lmao! They must get aggressive later on because the only one I see who bully’s sometimes is the blue ram. But nothing too bad....yet!

Well that poses a problem for the rift lake cichlids as they need hard water and if they dont have it they will suffer and die.

Well I have had them for quite some time and I don’t see any suffering for dying....(knocking on wood)
