I've recently got 6 discus and am hoping someone more knowledgeable can confirm i they are what they were sold as. I've checked pictures on google and the appearance of fish with same name seem to vary wildly. First and third pictures were sold as red snakeskin, 2nd blue turq and 4th pigeon blood. Thank you

Hi,I am new to Discus and have 6 in a relatively new tank. One looks just like the fish in your #1 and 3. I bought him because I liked his colors. He was labeled as TEFC. Whatever that is. Currently he has stopped eating at feeding time-no interest at all in the Cobalt Discus Flakes and "Discus-Hans" frozen food I am feeding. I have seen him pecking away at green algae from time to time. That must be sustaining him. I have been having trouble with Nitrate build up and have been unable to reduce it with water changes. I put some Purigen in the upper level of my Fluval 406 Cannister and 24 hrs later it seemed to have helped get the level a tad below 40ppm. That was yesterday and I'm going to go and test again to see if there is any more movement one way or another. How do you upload your pics?

40ppm is dangerously high for a sensitive fish like discus. Have you tested your water straight out of the tap? It may contain high levels of nitrates which will explain why water changes aren't helping

Toothless, how are your discus doing?  I also have some discus, and my progress is slow but steady.
