Revamping my home networking and I have found that my custom LEDs cause my home plugs to not work!!! Switch the tank lights on 0meg, switch them off 400mps!! I guess it's the driver anyone know if the noise can be cancelled by a computer extension or the like ??

Do you have the homeplug/leds plugged into the same extension/wall socket?
 
No, but it's the same circuit, the lounge...
 
It is possible that the socket the HP is connected to is a spur from the ring socket your LED are plugged into: effectively makes it an extensio thats just wired behind your walls. If at all possible, run an extension from any other socket to your LED, plug them into the extension and plug your homeplug into the led plug to retest. Any proper wiring would not have more than a single spur so it may help rule it out.

So no matter which socket I plug the LEDs into as soon as I do it drops the connection. Could the driver be faulty maybe I could buy another..
 
Check witht the company you purchased the driver from to see if there could any noise that would interfer with the wirerless signal. Another thing you can do is plug your Leds into UPS or  a surge protector. Let me know what happens.
 
I tried with a power strip that had surge protection but still the same, the driver is some Chinese brand, could look to source another one any recommendations??
 
Forever, where are you located? Also what are your requirements for driver ( what is being run currently)?
 
I am in the SE near Oxted, I am currently driving 8 x 3w Cree 6500k LEDs

You probably have a switched mode power supply that is kicking out all sorts of RF "mush"... I'd bet money that the EM noise "pollution" filtering from this doesn't even meet the (probably fake) standards markings on the case.
 
You will probably find that the typical surge protected power strip will do little to help. You need something with decent filtering.
 
Is the LED psu a "wall wart" type? If so, you could try a different one (just ensure that the current ratings are **at least** the same. The output voltage **must** be the same.).
 
If the PSU is not built into the LED driver unit and you have access to a bench PSU (do you know any electronics gurus/hobbyists??) then you could identify the exact source of the problem by elimination...
 
Can you provide a photo or two of the unit so I can get an idea of exactly what we are talking about..
 
Also, is there any specific reason that you need to use "Homeplug networking" as opposed to wifi? Could you identify the exact types that you are using?

Really appreciate the help here, everything is built into the unit I have attached a photo.. I need to use the wall plugs as I have very thick old walls, so I am setting up an extra wireless network at the opposite side of the house, works great when the LEDs are off :)

Your driver board is probably dumping "noise" onto the household mains and/or is allowing the LED wiring to act as an antenna, so transmitting "noise" which can then be picked up by the house wiring or even the networking hardware directly.
 
A "decent" switched mode power supply will filter out and only let minimal noise back onto the house wiring. Unfortunately, many designs of power supplies are sadly lacking in this respect.
 
You have a few options:
 
Change the LED driver.. a good design shouldn't cause these problems... but "in real life" you may have to try a few out until you get a "good one".
 
Add some RF filtering.... The cheapest "non-invasive" way would be to add some filtering yourself...

If you have access to any dead computer PSUs,then you could recycle these:

Cut them out (remove any wound wires). Disconnect the mains cable to the LED drive unit and loop the cable through the ring a couple of times... Worth a try if you have access to these parts.
 
It may also be worth trying any of the above on the LED supply wires as well... It shouldn't be required, but you might be surprised where this sort of thing can help.
