Hi guys this is my first post and I wanted to know if anyone could tell me if this is spawning behaviour from my kribensis in the video only the girl does it but the guy does it too.

Looks like the video didn't get embedded. Please try embedding it again in a reply or, if it still doesn't work, link it using a URL instead.

Lovely pair! What behaviour do you mean excactly? Feed them well and they will spawn pretty soon :)

The behaviour was the shaking in the tube that she was doing and I only brought the male today from my lfs and the moment he went in they both exploded with colour and I have had eggs from this female before but they were eaten

Also what should I feed them on to help make them spawn

I guess what you mean is at sec 58? She tries to move the gravel but does not succeed. That is no direct spawning behaviour. Concerning food best is of course live food like bloodworm, tubifex or daphnia. But they are not very picky, so they should also spawn on any good dry food.

Btw. what happened to the other male?

Yeh on second 58 and why is she trying to move the gravel and should I move it so that they have a glass bottom instead of gravel. Also I read somewhere that bloodworm was bad for them and is frozen food good too. If I was to get live food how would I be able to store it so that I don't have to go out every couple of days to get those little tubes of live food. I'm not sure really her first partner and her were in my community tank where there were bigger and more aggressive fish than them and he started to get quite violent with the bigger fish and I think they had enough and just killed him. Now her second partner and her are in a 50 litre tank with out 6 small platies with them. It's a shame about the other male because he was beautiful.

Frozen food is very good too. Yeah, the problem with live food is you can store it max for a few days. When you buy some, exchange the water frequently and keep at 4°C.

Are the tankmates with the kribensis fine for when they breed, do they kribensis need any special water paramounts mine are
no3 nitrate 10
No2 nitrite 0
General hardness 8d
Carbonate 6d
Ph level 7.4
Chlorine 0

Also will they use those tubes that you can see in the video or do I need to get something else and what signs do I need to look out for that they are starting to spawn. Also should I leave it bare bottom underneath the tubes as the female was trying to move it or should I change the gravel completely. Thanks for all your help

They are very uncomplicated. Your water is fine and also the gravel is fine. They are cave breeders. I would guess your tubes are perfectly fine and I would wait and watch. If it does not work out then you can go and change it. Best to go on youtube and watch some videos of kribensis spawning :)

I would remove those platies, because they will not like it as soon as the kribensis start to spawn.

Ok thank you very much I will keep you updated with what happens between them Amadeus when they start breeding I will remove the platies and maybe put some of my neon tetras in there to act as dither fish. Also is there any frozen or live food that the kribensis cannot eat or don't like and do I need to drop the temperature or change the water more frequently to get them spawn.

Not that I am aware of, they will eat every thing which fits their mouth :) There is also no need for playing with the temp or water changes, simply keep your routine. They don't neccessarily need dither fish, so I would spare those and try without first. If you can, add more caves and broken lines of sight, in order that the female can hide if the male gets too aggressive towards her.

Good luck!

What would you use to break the lines of sight and do they need/like live plants because at the minute they only have plastic and also what caves/hides should I use should I get some pots of just use more pipe
