Its a albino common pleco i have 3 of them they will grow the same size and the common pleco which is huge. So if your thinking of getting one you need a bit tank with a good filter because they poo a lot
Was asking because it has been trapped in a cavity in a rock for over a day, but it's out now and there's a brown BN male inside now with a load of orange eggs. How long do they take to hatch?
Not trapped then - just spawning! You won't see the male for ages now, mine doesn't even come out for food when there's eggs.
Roughly five to seven days before they hatch.
Get a 10 or 15 gal tank for fry raising. It will need to be cycled Use a larger net that can cover the cave entrance. Then remove the cave with the net over the opening and move it with the dad and offspring to the grow tank.
Male plecos will occasionally try to sneak out for snack, so you can drop a bit of food for him into the tank. If he doesn't eat it, remove it.
Eventually the fry will be free swimming and will leave the cave or he will evict them/ Let the day and cave remain in the 19 foe another week or so and feed him. he needs to regain his strength cause by the time you return him to the main tank with the cave, the female will just about be ready to go again. The fry can pretty much eat the same food as the adults.
One note, when they start spawning you usually see 20-30 eggs. When mine had their lat spawn about 8 years later it was over 100 fry. With time, as she grows, she will make more eggs.
