Assassin Snails

Hi,
 
After placing a couple of new plants in my tank i now have about 15 snails in my tank, been researching and the general consensus to get rid of them is assassin snails. i have a fluval edge 46 l how many assassin snails would i need to get rid of these little critters!

well 1 assassin will eat 1 snail every 3 days or so i think, but you dont want to over stock, there's going to be more than 15 snails, id say about 5-6 should do for that tank, i had a 60L over run by pest snails, added 4 assassins a few months later, there were afew pests left but A LOT less than before

Also depends if you want the Assassins to breed or not, then you should only have one!  I do not mind mine breeding as they are not like pest snails, spending most of their time hidden.  I never thought I would introduce a snail deliberately to an aquarium, but have not regretted it and have had enough Assassins for new tanks as and when they get set up   
 
What do you have in your Edge?  Any pics?
 
Can you put your location in your profile as it assists with advice etc., due to differences in countries ...

I currently have 4 neons, 4 black bar endlers, 4 cherry shrimp and 20 odd fry from the endlers! I am looking at moving the neons soon and as for the endlers fry still not sure what to do with those!
 
With regards to the assassins are they ok with cherry shrimp? and do maidenhead sell them?

I am not an expert on shrimps, someone else maybe able to tell you who has tried them with shrimp or what does Google say?
 
Yes MA sell them from time to time.  Still not sure where you are located as if nearby I could sell you some cheap.

What is your reason for moving out the Neons?  You could sell your Endler fry if you do not want to keep them all, maybe someone on here might like some?  I was once encouraged to go for Endlers but I have tended to stay away from the Live-bearers or you get over-run with them.  Although to be fair I was advised to have just males.
 
Tank looks good, are they real or fake plants?

I have both in the same tank and have for quite some time. Assassins only eat dead shrimp, never the living ones.

Shame the weather is still cold. I have plenty of baby assassins (as in easily over 100...) would have sent you some for free if the weather was nice enough. (According to Google maps, Aylesbury is only about 1 1/4 hours drive from where I am).

+1 shrimp and snails are fine

1 assassin will be fine for your tank. Slowly but surely.....

5/6 is overkill imho.

I would get at least 3 or 4, that way you might even end up with babies that you can sell!
