Sick Guppy?

Please read the link through. They need live food, sand, brackish conditions, etc. and they can grow quite big.

Okay 80% change... wow it looks awesome. Momma is still stressed but that is understandable for what she just went through. Added aquarium salt, tetra easy balance, and tetra aqua safe.

Also, driving to a big city to get some guppy friends for her...

Why did you add salt?

Get some Seachem Prime or StressCoat+ while you're in the big city. That's all you need to add to your water whenever you do a water change.

I've found that the guppies enjoy the aquarium salt.

I bought some fancies while in the big city and while I was acclimating them momma actually moved! She was inspecting the bag and trying to get to her new friends. When I put them in the tank they all started swimming happily together! Guess she was lonely... I am going back to the school today to check on everything. I also got a good fw test kit.

Great...over night 1 guppy gave birth and another one has ick removed as many babies as I could and treated the tank with pimafix.... shoulda quarentined.... but the original sick fish is doing better with her new tank mates! Much more active

Okay this morning the fish are all swimming quite happily. However, my one male still has ich(of course, it doesn't dissapear overnight). Should I set up a 3 gallon sick tank for him? I don't have another filter though, but I could do daily water changes.... Any thoughts?

The parasite that causes ich is a free-swimming organism that will attach itself to whatever fish happens to be handy, so isolating a fish won't do any good. The whole tank needs to be treated, and for as long as is recommended on the bottle of medicine. It also helps to turn the tank temp up to 80ºF to speed up the life cycle of the parasites.

Okay sounds good! I am treating with Pimafix per instructions, I will turn up the heat a bit more I usually keep it at 78 so it will be a smooth transition to 80.

Just remembered that I transferred some babies into the fry tank with a turkey baster there by transferring some water... should I low dose treat the fry tank as well? Any other suggestions? I will try to post pics of the ich fish to be sure that's what it is and also the tank and its new mates.

Too true! Mine do as well, but happily that sand just falls off when they move.

That is not really what his spot looks like. He has a white cottony spot on his right side right above his black spot. He won't hold still long enough for me to get a decent pic so I am including a link to a video of him. Hopefully someone can tell what is going on from that. Video

THANKS!

That's not ich. It's some kind of fungus or bacterial infection. I have an appointment and I have to leave for an hour or so but maybe someone can chime in here and advise.

Okay Thanks Spouse.... I am using Pimafix, should I seperate him from his current tank mates or just leave him and treat the whole tank?
