I think pitbulls are nice, although I don't have ever owned one. A pitbull lives on my street, and it is sweet and we even rescued it one time as it got out of its yard and ran across the street. I wouldn't risk owning one though, I'm fine with my half-lab and 2 cats thank you. :good:

KITTIES :D pits are tough to own without experience

So are cats. I know a lot of people quick to deem a cat useless without ever having the experience of owning one. They are not the hiding, conniving little creepshows that a lot of people seem to think they are. My cat is just as lovable, if not more, that any dog I have met. With the exception of my moms boxers....those dogs will NOT go out in the morning until after my mom gives them kisses.

I have 2 pit bulls! They are the sweetest dogs ever! Most pit bull bites are caused by stupid people who do not know how to act around dogs and by owners who do not know how to control their dog! Why in the world would you keep a dog on one of those flimsy, stringy leashes? You CANNOT control your dog on that! And for those who do not believe in leashes why in the world would you let your dog roam around a neighborhood and then expect your dog not to bite someone? Or even expect it not to get bit for going into another dogs territory? IDIOTS! If you are going to get a pit bull then you NEED TO DO SOME RESEARCH BEFOREHAND!!!!! People just need to research pit bulls in general, if you look on youtube.com you will see PLENTY of videos and pictures of PIT BULLS getting along with children. My 2 pit bulls let my 5yr old crawl, smack, bite, pull their ears, and they don't even growl or acknowledge that they are there, so before you put a stereotype on certain dogs, DO SOME RESEARCH! Sorry but just because the minority groups like to be savages and fight pit bulls, doesn't mean that ALL of them are bad, they aren't born that way, they are TRAINED to be that way...Here are my sweet little angels

I HAD a siberian husky, but unfortunately i did not have to room that he needed. I did enter him for pet of the month though. He will always be my special boy.

Beautiful dogs shi and certainly do get a rep they dont deserve... i have two staffs which get they say stick in the UK and as somebody has mentioned with pits.. they are refereed to as the 'nanny dog' over here.... ive been around staffs all my life and have 2 young children myself (4&2) and these are the only dogs i would truly trust round them.

arent Staffordshire terriers the same thing as a pitbull?

I guess fundamentally you could say that because all bull breeds originate from the same place/same dog if i remeber correctly... however this was many years ago... the differences today in size, look and shape can be very different though.

It also should be the other way round if anything, "pitbulls the same as staffordshire bull terrier" considering pitbulls are an english staff cross.

I'm not sure if usa's AM staff is just a clever way of hiding the fact they have a pitbull, im sure they are just pitbulls and recognised as them also, staffs here are NOT pitbulls.

Google the question and it will give a far more in depth analysis of the breeds and how they originated.

They are also recognised as different breeds and one is wrongly banned :/ ...solely because of reputation.

no.. american staffordshire terriers are the same as pit bulls. staffordshire bull terriers are a smaller dog that look a lot like pit bulls. some say they are the dogs that our current pit bulls came from.

i've had pit bulls for most of my adult life. the pit bull i have currently is 16 years old, Otis, he's the "old man of the house". no one messes with him, even my 130 lb wolfdog (13 years old) lets Otis do what Otis is gonna do. Otis' first love was my akita, Riki, and every akita i've had since then including the 6 year old akita i have currently. When Otis passes i'll find another pit bull that needs me the same way i have ever since my children were little guys.

my 3 boys were raised by a great pit bull girl named Brandy, she taught them how to behave around dogs, scolded them when they hurt her, but NEVER even bruised them no matter how hard they played or how "vicious" she sounded when she scolded them for being too rough with her.
