Sorry to say, but the green and white striped plants and the two green ones in the centre back are non aqautic and will rot and die. I'd take them out now as you can't risk ammonia spikes from dying plants in an Edge.

hmmm, i will have to call the LFS as these plants we purchased as an aquatic plant that were already in an aquarium, they are health and growing well. I will do a water test and post results maybe. Has anyone else seen these plants before or could give me a name. The LFS has quite a few of these in stock in several aquariums. Thanks for your help.

They are a species of Dracaena (spider plant), they way they get round selling these is that they have there place in things like Ripariums and the such.

have a look at some nice smaller plants like Anubias or smaller java fern.

I know; shops are always selling these as aquatic. They are from the Dracaena family. This is one we rescued from my exs tank;

Wow, guess i have some re planning to do...... awww nuts,
Thanks for your help guys..
ps....anyone wanna by a spiderplant?

Thats the same basic idea ive gone for in my Edge. Black gravel with a nice piece of bogwood dug under with the top sticking out.

Ive decided to go for moss balls in mine in each corner at the minute though, the shrimps love them

You see this plant iif alot if LFS, and it doesnt last long mate, I learnt the hard way to mate, If unsure if there aquatic, ask the "LFS EXPERT" what the correct name for them is and the family they belong to, if they don't know this, then they will not know to much about aquatic plants and throw all sorts into there stores.
If you like the look of that plant, why not go for something like water wysteria? A Crypt Wendii (Greens) would look good also, just split them into two when you get them from the store to double your plant volume

Nice tanks these Edge's though, keep it up :good:

In spite of the possible plant trouble, your tank looks great! I love how the Edge tanks look.

It does indeed look really nice; its a shame your LFS scammed you up with a non-aquatic plant, because it really looks nice in there!

Really good aquascape, I like the dark gravel.

What species of Plec is it? Some grow seriously big, and if you leave them in a tank that is too small, it stunts their growth. That doesn't mean fish only grow to the size of their environment, it means their body stops growing, but their internal organs don't. :good:

I've got 2 of those spider plants that I bought from the lfs. I've had them for 6 weeks and they seem healthy, none of the leaves have fallen off yet.
Are they ok to leave in the tank as long as they're not dying or are they poisonous to the tank even if they're healthy?

This is the typr of Plec i have, http://aquarium-club.org/Common_Tropical_Fish/Catfish/chinese_algae_eater.htm

I guess i should have been more specific. Lack of knowledge on my part. It is an alge eater not so much a plec.

Anyone have any info on this type of alge eater? Again, hopefully i was not lead astray by the LFS

They may well be giving off ammonia already; they tend to rot from below the gravel and inside, so you may not see it. It's up to you, but I'd take them out now; you can always put them in pots and give them away to people ;)

:shout:
I'd get that one out and re-homed ASAP; they grow to a foot long and eat less and less algae and get more and more aggressive towards other fish (they like to attach themselves to the fish's sides and rasp away the skin) as they get older.
