I have an article in finnish about algae in aquariums, but there's not much pictures. I think I need your help.

If you have any pictures of algae and you wouldn't mind that I use them in my site (I will add copyright-markings to the picture if you wan't), I would really appreciate if you'd email them to me, or email a link to the picture if it's already in your homesite. Or add them to this thread.

You can find my email addy from my profile. And if you guys want, I can do an english version of the algae article. :)

This picture shows a blob of algae on the glass and spots of it on the stones.

This was taken when my clown plec first went in and since then he's cleaned all the stones off :)

JobySp, perhaps you should try to increase the water flow. BGA usually forms because of excessive phosphates/low nitrates or low water circulation.

You may test for phosphates & nitrates to see if that's the problem. The ratio should be 10:1, Nitrates:phosphates. If the results seem ok, then I would say you should try to increase the water circulation.

the internal filter is broken and have only just got round to ordering a new one so perhaps it is waterflow... never even considered that...

i dont think it helps that it is in direct sunlight...

i now put a towel round the tank to stop the sunlight reaching it.

Yes, it's most likely low water circulation. I was having the same problem until I adjusted the flow output on my filter. I haven't seen any of it since! Good luck.

Those pictures are yummy :p

I need to go visiting friends for a weekend so I won't be online much. But I will check the pictures and PM you if I have something to ask :)

Thank you. And keep them coming

Got the same algue in my Tanganyikan tank. Sadly no fish eat algue and i cant have plants to compete with the algue since the fish would dig them up.

what about marine algae? I can get loads of marine algae but might not be what your looking for.

ste :)
