My Cube (Ish) Tank

My 24x22x20
Currently filtered by a Fluval 4+ (internal)

Been running around 5 weeks now, 3 with fish,(i used bacteria from previous tank)

In their we have:
Pair of A.Cacotouides (2"
Pair of Keyholes (3")
3 Lyre-tail Black Mollies (1 male 2 pregnant females)
6 Horsefaced loach
1 "Plec" (no idea on species, hoping its not a Gibbicep due to size.

Looks great, using broken pots as hides, few fake plants, and black gravel and 2 sides painted black.
Thinking about changing to sand due to the horseface loach loving to dig.
Anybody reccomend me a shoaling fish i could get in a few weeks time?
Not got any pic's uploaded at the minute but i'll get some tommorow after college.

Im sure some people on here will tell you the species of plec you have, just upload a pic :good:

In my personal opinion a great shoaling fish is a cardinal tetra.

Haha, i will get some soon

Yeahh hopefully, just gotta catch it out for once haha.

They are, as are Neons, but ive kept them before and the amount of deaths i've had is a bit too much.
I'm considering some of the smaller Barb species, with my Betta i don't think Tiger barbs would be too safe i dont think?

I know tiger barbs can be nasty little fish, and my shred the bettas tail to shreds.
my other school of fish i have is black widow tetra, really good looking fish, mine don't seem to stop in a school but they break apart into 2 groups, a few pregnant females as-well.
Also what about some harlequin tetra or rummynose tetra?

UPDATE

Added a sand bed for the Horseface loach to dig in.
Added quite a few plants for cover, removed fake plants.

Pics will be taken tommorow im afraid, im shattered and the battery wasn't charged for the camera, tank needs to settle too.

Tank's looking really good right now, need more sand for the plants to be properly rooted.

Keyholes look to be pairing up, colour have vastly brightened and they're a lot more reclusive now, coming out only for food.

good pics, i will just warn you though, the plant that the Bamboo shrimp is on is a non aquatic plant. It won't do well submerged. It will rot, and cause ammonia spikes. If i was you i would remove it.

KNEW IT, £1.80 a bunch and i bought 5, not happy at all.
I'll remove them tommorow during the water change.

if your still thinking of barbs, you could have some of the smaller chaps (cherry, or drape fin barbs spring to mind) and they shouldn't be aggro to your betta.

Although i love my barbs, they are not the greatest of shoalers - they stick together, but its not the same as a swarm of tetras swimming in unison

Cheers mate, looking at getting a small group of Cherries next month, with a group of Corydoras Agazizzi

Removed the non-aquatics plants today, put them in my Tomato Frog's setup.

Had a minor rescape, will update with pics when its clear.

Added 3 more Horse faced loach and a pair of Apisto's (cacotouides double red)

The shrimp died, i'm thinking it was attacked rather then parameters. With the apisto's in the tank now, its no use adding more.

Stock list as of now:
Apistogramma Cacotouides "double red" X2 (pair)
Keyhole Cichlids X2 (pair)
3 Lyretailed mollies.
6 Horsefaced loach
1 common plec (have a 48x30x20 for when its bigger.)

I'm thinking of adding the Cherry barbs sometime next month, before christmas, will look at fertilisers and CO2 kits aswell but that will be february atleast.

New pictures, cannot get any of the Apisto's as they've only been in almost 2 days and are as shy as anything right now.

The Betta now has his own little cube, with less flow so he can be a bit more relaxed, he was being blown about a bit in the big tank (big LOL )

Those loaches are awesome! Hidden in the sand like that :wub:

Tank looks awesome, I love nice clear braceless aquariums like yours.

Also, those keyholes look rather suspicious... wonder what they're up to in that plant pot :shifty:
