My floval at the mo has the standard floval filter that came with it. soon to be updated to a external Floval 305 :)
I have tetra total substrate base followed by natural washed light gravel. pleanty of bod wood (just about stoped leaching heavy brow tannings into the water), good few pieces of rock and slate collected from beeches a few years ago. As you can see the tank has a smattering of different plants (all real and doing well) just waiting for my java moss to arrive.

And time for the pics. hope you like comments welcome.

I love it! :good: :good:

I'm STILL unhappy with my my 125 Fluval tank :grr:

Could you tell us what hardware you have in your tank? Do you have any Co2 running? What lights, filter...?

Total stocking so far
4 Zebra Denos (soon to be 5)
2 Apple snails
5 Assassin Snails
2 Angels
2 Honey Gourmais (think they are honey)
3 Black Phantome Tetras
1 Soft Shell Turtle

I am thinking of what to add finally. would like a good sized shoal of something small and nippy with good markings ( i am thinking of Galaxy Rasbora) around 10 - 20

I dont think the tetras will be staying tho as they are a bit nippy towards other fish.

Fluval U3 Internal Filter, Tronic Heater 150watt, Fluval GLO lighting, one of each 20watt PowerGlo & AquaGlo
but i will soon be replacing the u3 with a 305.
has took me about 6 weeks to finally get the scaping quite how i wanted it and how the fish seem to like it and the turtle.
Nope no co2 just 8 hours of light with a weakly dose of plant furt. I used Tetra Plant Complete Substrate about 1cm of it with 2-4 cm of gravel (slopes up at the back)
Really wanted to add a textured back ground but didnt think about it till the other week. I am going to drain the trank in a few weeks (with out the fish in of corse) and add the background.

well.. its awesome mate! Glad to see no algae problems too! BTW, i have the same lighting and someone advised me on here that you actually have 2 x 15 watt not 2 x 20 watt (the ballast is, not the bulbs!)

great tank!

seen this?

I was sure i was going to have a algea problem when i started out and planed it out in my head but nothing so far. touching bog wood. regular water changes prob are helping plus all the snails.
I did have a massive pest snail problem to start with but the assassins soon cleared them out. cool little blighters they are ;)

Aren't Soft Shelled Turtles supposed to be in a species only tank?
Dont they also require an area of land to bask in accompanied by UVA/UVB bulb?
The purply plant at the front doesnt look aquatic :X

Well i did some digging around and asked a few people and they have all said that they can be kept with fish as long and its planted and there is plenty to brake the line of sight. as for the basking area he can quite happily get up the large piece of bog wood and bask on top he is up the most the time when the lights are on. Right under the lights (he loves it)
I dont no what species of plant it is but it is defo aquatic and its doing quite well. lots of new shoots and leaves since planting it. really brightens up the for ground of the tank with its deep rich purple underside of the leaves.

Wow, Alex - love the tank set up - and totally smitten by that cute little turtle!!

Never realised turtles could be kept in an aquarium - but at £25 each I doubt I'll be getting one any time soon

Is Turbo ok with the fish in there? It doesn't try to bite them, does it? And how big will Turbo grow to? Will he stay small?

So, sooo cute!

Regards - Athena
