This is just a topic to brag about the success I'm having with my planted tank!! I want to see if others are doing good with their attempts. I will also try to post a picture in this topic of my tank thus far and if anyone can give me an ID on my plant species that would be great! Thank you all for your help so far and for the continued help in the future, it is greatly appreciated.

Justin

The first one is a non aquatic Ophiopogon japonicus, the second is a Cryptocoryne wendtii of some sort and the 3rd is Echinodorus bleheri and i'm not sure of the last one, but you might want to remove the lead weight.

does it not stay down if you bury half the bulb?

Success? What you mean? Looks like it's just been planted.
Get some more plants in their buddy :good:

Haha, I'd love to, but at the moment, it's very difficult to get to a pet store as they are all at least 30 minutes away.. and petco is the closest one, but I'd rather not buy plants from them. The last ones I got there brought snails into my tank and one of them wasn't even an aquatic plant... apparently another one I got there isn't aquatic either, but this is the most success I've ever had with plants in my tank other than java moss which is impossible to kill.

I want to keep the "banana" part of the plant out of the gravel so that it can be seen.

half the bulb needs to exposed anyways, once its rooted, i would take it off.

If by success you mean finding plants, buying them and planting them good job. Got a lot of learning and buying to do before you get fancy though :hey:

I'm tryin, I really am! I want to order a package of plants, and I'm trying to make it a themed tank. I want all the plants to be from South America as that is where a majority of my fish will be coming from... Is it necessary to buy the bigger package of plants? Or is it ok to get the smaller one and wait for the plants to grow out?

i have bought a good few plants on this website, always good quality and cheaper,so i would keep a look out in the plants for sale section.

cheers

I'm gonna update these pictures, I've added a little bit to my setup.. a few more plants that I'm not really sure about, and I want to know what plants are the ones that people use that look like grass, I want to use it as a playground of sorts for my neons once I get them... Take a look and tell me what you think so far..

Thanks guys. :)
