How big is the tank?
What is the filtration?
Hoiw quickly have you built up that stock?
Any new additions recently since just before the deaths occurred? Did you quarantine the new fish for two weeks?
You say water is "fine" but what are the actual ammonia; nitrite; nitrate readings? The fisrt two need to be zero at all costs, even if that means multiple water changes to dilute the toxins.
What is your cleaning routine for the tank?
Any sign of spots/growths/soreness on fish?
Are you absolutely sure the temperature is correct for your community?

No doubt many more questions will be asked by others, to be of any help at all, "emergency threads" need rather more deatails than you supplied ;)

Personally, I would start by doing a gravel/sand vacuum and a water change of 75%+ before you even get any help specific to the illness causing deaths.

Hi sorry, I'm only 10yrs old and never thought to give more info. Below are answers to q's (with mums help).

How big is the tank? 240 litres
What is the filtration? Fluval 305

Hoiw quickly have you built up that stock? Built up over 4 months

Any new additions recently since just before the deaths occurred? Did you quarantine the new fish for two weeks? Added 2 killifish and 1 hong kong plec but no didn't quarantine.

You say water is "fine" but what are the actual ammonia; nitrite; nitrate readings? The fisrt two need to be zero at all costs, even if that means multiple water changes to dilute the toxins. Ammonia=0, Nitrite = 0, Ph=7 and trace Nitrate

What is your cleaning routine for the tank? 20-25% water change, gravel vaccum and clean every week

Any sign of spots/growths/soreness on fish? No signs of disease or illness at all

Are you absolutely sure the temperature is correct for your community? Temp is 24oC

The only other point is most, but not all deaths seem to occur overnight.

Thanks.

Well done for getting back so quickly with that info, but I've just thought of another crutial questions, especially since you say most deaths happen at night...

What fish (please give exact species if you can, for instance some Killifish like "Golden Wonders" can be aggressive and predatory on small fish) are still alive and roughly how big are they in inches excluding the rearmost tail?

How big would you say most of the dead fish were?

I've just had to google your dead Rainbow species, I had not come across them before, they look stunning fish!

My personal hunch (and I'm new to the hobby since April, so we really need more input from better experienced fish keepers) at this stage is that you have a fish in the tank with an "evil side", possibly bigger/stockier than the others, that is beating up the smaller and more timid fish mainly at night time.

Any chance the unknown goby could be the Purple Spotted Goby? How big are they? These guys will try and eat small fish when adults.
