Thought I would share some of my pics. It's a relatively newish setup so 6-7" is probably the biggest fish but they are all starting to fatten up nicely.

Fed on cucumber/peas twice weekly and a mixture of frozen bloodworm or chopped up Mussels, shrimp and squid on a daily basis.

The Elephants, Pictus cats and Freshwater Archer are all going to be moved to the 62gallon soon and a few Bichirs and other odds will be added to this. Hoping to get a collection of different tigerfish and by next year they should be in at least a 9x3x3.

Thanks for looking

Nice fish :) isn't the archer fish brackish normally?

I had an elephant nose fish for a while , considering their blind pretty much mine was really quite agressive.

As for the sorubim lima see mine below lol, occasionaly has a quick swim then back to it;s spot. Although when i tried keeping Bosemani rainbow fish it ate them all.

brilliant Vinny!!

love it

really like the lephant noses, always wanted to set a tank up for these, they get quite large as well and will look spot on when bigger

Thanks for the comments. Dave I think it was on your post that T1 told me to buy the Dat from Wildwoods. Got him and the Lima in the same shipment on Wednesday, I was pleased with how he has settled so quickly, really good quality stock as usual.

Always, the Archer is a true freshwater Archer, cant remember the exact latin name but they are definately freshwater. I bought 3 but sadly I think there was aggression in the 55 gallon while they were waiting to be transferred over and only this one survived. He is doing really well now though and loves spending time with the Dat. He will be moving to the 62gallon with the Pictus.

Cheers Simon, Yeah the Elephants are great mate. I got 5 from Pier about 6 weeks ago or so, they're around 5-6" and they just zoom around in an out of all the bogwood I have in, its great to watch. I would definately recommend them to anyone. I have a Centipide Knifefish in there too but he hides in the massive filter u see the Lima living by so will get a pic next time hes out feeding. Hate that juwel filter, its a pain, need a big external really.

i used to keep elephant noses in a 4 footer, they are really interesting to watch! i used to keep my african butterfly fish with them, and a few others but can't remember, tank looks well suited to them anyway! so that thin bar dat is one of the ones from wildwoods then? whats there delivery prices? i got my two cheap from world of water (due to the woman at the till accidentally knocking about 75% off our bill) ha.
you can tell from the markings its a fresh water archer! stunning fish, there is one species of archer that reach's 40cm long but i think it is a brackish water species, otherwise id contemplate hunting a couple down for my tank!

Yeah the Elephants really are fantastic. I tried to add a couple of smaller short nosed elephants too but I dont think they were in very good health when I bought them and both lasted less than a week unfortunately. The shipping only seemed to have cost me around £15 m8. Thats why I added the Lima in as it saves on shipping getting both together. Dat was £34 and Lima was £19 and both seem in great condition.

The Archer I got from Pier a while back. They still had them when I went back a few weeks ago. Lovely fish, as I said mine thinks its a Dat at the minute but I think it will probably be moved on to the 62gallon as size may become an issue. It is a Toxotes microlepis. if you want to look it up m8. Think around 6-8" is the max they will grow. On the freshwater ones the bar that goes up to the dorsal fin isnt connected to the bit on the dorsal fin, you can see that on my pic, thats apparently the best way to tell these apart from the brackish ones.

Just thought I would add the Knifefish. Just sold as a knifefish, think I have narrowed it down to a centipide Knife, not 100% though. He's around 8-10" I would say. Probably my favourite fish except for one thing, I never ever see him, was lucky to get these.

the knifefish is fantastic

big fana of knives and one day I will have lots of different species in my giant fish house when i win the lottery

i think its Gymnotus carapo or banded knife fish, different to centipede knife. i really want a zebra knife fish but don't know if they will be safe with rays etc, i know some knife fish when a decent size can look after them selves but they just look fragile, especially the zebra as it appears longer and more slender!

simon, think if i won the lottery id buy next door and turn that into a fish house,, sod a room in the garden! haha

oh, the banded knife fish gets to about 2 foot so would look pretty impressive at that size!!

It is, thanks. To be honest, I checked ages ago when I first got him, got all the details I needed and never really looked again. Clearly the banded one. Think I was checking off memory too as to what he looked like as when he first went in I just never seen him;.

I love Knifefish too Simon, if I had the room I would definately be getting more, including the Zebra which does look like a very special fish. Think having more than one type of knife can lead to aggression though, especially in a tiny tank like mine, yours might be okay though Dave.

to be honest, although i have always liked all knife fish, the only ones i have kept before are black ghost and glass knife, but i wouldn't want any other, other than the zebra, it looks a very impressive fish, will have to wait and see if i can find a decent one for a decent price, not for a while, got other stuff in the pipeline right now so everything else has to wait!
i like that knife fish all the same, it does have very nice patterning!

Thanks Dave, he's not bad, looks better in real life than my crappy pics though  I am after a tank a bit bigger than yours to be honest, nice Arow with a load of dats an Polys, literally can't wait till we buy our next house next year an get it all built in. I will be after advice from you an T1 for plumbing an stuff then.

good stuff, will look forward to another thread of another big tank being built!
what size are you wanting to go to?
no good asking me about plumbing, although i would be more than confident to undertake my own plumbing when it comes to me doing my bigger tank build, i will more than likely make mistakes along the way which i will learn by. although i would help anyone where i could!
i will be making a journal for a tank build within the next couple of months hopefully, it will be a large(ish) corner tank with built in sump, it will be upstairs, but i will be making it so two adjoining block supporting walls will be taking the main weight of the tank, so hardly no weight on an upper floor!
your tank will look good with lots of dats, polys and an aro! the thing i like about dats is even though some don't like each other they don't get aggressive really, my microlepis doesn't like my big quadrifasciatus it sort of charges at it now and again but doesn't hit it, just swims past, and thats about as violent as it gets!
look forward to seeing another big tank!!
