I don't know what to do. Ever since we moved into our new place, a circular white discoloration appeared where his back fin is attached to its body, and got bigger and bigger over the last 6 months. I went to petsmart, and they suggested it was ick, gave me a some medicine, but it didn't help. Seems to me that icks form all over a betta's body, but this was only one spot. Now it got bigger and turned into a bump, and the bump kept getting bigger, and appeared on the other side of the fin. Now my betta is swimming around, with no appearent change in his behavior, but a huge white bump.

i have no idea about what to make of this.... please help.

Yeaah, we need a much clearer picture... try to get the best quality you can get, even if it's not that close. Better luck with a clearer one than a closer one :\

I still think it's cotton wool, but still not too entirely sure.

OK, I will try to get a clearer picture.

I looked into cotton wool disease. Even though the symptom and reason matches, the description says it's a very fast moving disease with a sudden death. He's had it white spot for over 6months now......

"Cotton wool disease starts out as a translucent layer on the betta's skin. This mucoid then rapidly expands as it eats away the flesh, leaving muscle, tissue and blood vessels exposed. Literally within hours pus leaks out of this legion on the fish into the tank water. This is a very fast-moving, fast-acting bacterium, and once in the water can spread rapidly to other fish. Death usually comes within 12 to 24 hours of the first sign of disease."

any thoughts?

Here are a few more pics. Thank you all for the effort.

Last one.

Still hard to see. Honestly, the last batch of pictures just makes it look like a COLOR change. You did say he had no change in behavior? Again, I can't really tell. Try researching cotton wool on your own, see what matches up. Those are the only two I can think of off the top of my head.

yeah, no change in behaviour, he even makes his bubbles alright... there is definitely a bump though, and it kinda gradually developped over the last six months, but definitely got worse quicker this week (now looks like there are two adjacent bumps)....

I removed the gravel, plastic flowers from his tank, and increased frequency of water changes... i'll add some sea salt tomorrow and up the temperature to 82, see if that helps...

Couple more, it sticks out little bit (larger than a pinhead), got bigger over 6 months.

Wow, that is definitely interesting... I've never seen that (and I'm actually not the expert, only been keeping betta for a short while). It looks like it's more directly on his body though... have you looked up tumor? But the tumor's I see are usually one big bubble.

It's best to see what everyone else says as well. You say he's acting the same, so hopefully he'll keep that up...

It could be a tumer. Try posting in the emergency section, wilder will know,
