I have 3 Dalmation Mollies, all female, and one male black molly. All 3 females are pregnant, but one of them is huge! Her belly looks like the gondola on a blimp. In all my years of keeping fish, I have never seen this before. This is my first experience with Dalmation Mollies, have kept black mollies for years. Is this normal? Is this mama going to die before the fry appear? She looks like she must be carrying a couple hundred fry. lol I hurt just looking at her. Any info is welcome! Thanks

Welcome to the forum Fishymom. As Biokid said a squared off shape is more telling than the size of the female.

Is her belly huge more at the front? can u get a picture put up on here?

The shape you are looking for is \____/

Take a look at my pinned thread for proper pictures.

The thing is with mollies, they are very unpredictable like most livebearers, they can not even look far on and drop fry, some look far on and are nowhere near ready, like i say they the most unpredicatbale out of them all.

Some pics would really help if u can though..

Well, here's a photo from a couple of days ago, but she really looks strange today, more like she's just horribly bloated, and she swims with her head down. I'm wondering if she's really pregnant, or if she's sick. Fatfishy.JPG

wow, i can honestly say i have not seen anything like that before, its not a balloon molly is it? was it like that when you bought it?

Look anyways like she is bloated as well has heavy pregnant, feeding her a pea will help, de-shell it though (warm it up to in microwave) before de-shelling it.

Whoa! I didn't realize the photo would be so big, sorry! Should have resized it again before posting, get it way smaller.Fatfishy (606x640).jpg

she looks way to big to be that pregnant, the poor love, perhaps you should post on the emergency section...

She seemed a little better this morning, not quite as bloated, and swimming more levelly. She's eating well, but had trouble last night getting the food because of her size. Someone suggested feeding her a pea. If she's still the same when I get home this afternoon, I'll do that. Will keep you posted. Thanks for all of the comments! (No, not a balloon molly )

Feed her the de-sheeled cooked pea, (break it up for her)... dont feed her anything other than the pea for a day or two.
