Hi guys.
I got 2 more yellow tangs today as part of my plans.
They are currently in the quarentine tank for , hopefully, 2 weeks.
Anyway, I have noticed one has a blemish or parasite on its tail.
I cannot get a decent picture of it so I have badly attempted drawing it. It is about 3mm long, 2mm wide at its widest part, and about 1mm tall. It is a teardrop shape and is transparent, though it does appear yellow because it is on the yellow tangs tail. It doesnt appear to have any features like legs, eyes ect, it kind of looks like a blister.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi seffie
Deffinatly not an isopod. I just did a fresh water dip and that didnt work, so I think ive ruled out that it is some sort of parasite. Like I said before, it has no eyes, leg or anything to make it parasetic like.
It looks like the fish equivilant of a blister. Just a clear fold of skin.

Could well be possible ben. There is no redening around it and the fish doesnt seem irritated by it, no flicking against the rocks ect.

Hi

i think it looks like a leech on the yellow tangs tail the leech curles up into a heart/teardrop shape

very bad to have go to your lfs and get treatment

You really do need to get a pic up for us to try and accurately tell what it is, although going by your description it sounds like a fish louse.

I phoned up the shop where I bought the tang from and they have agreed to take it back and swap for another. I guess I dont need to worry as much now, but id still lik to find out what it is.

Scott, betta fish, it looks like it could be either of thos.

I shall check my new tang much more thorough before I bring it home! :p

Cheers scott.
Ive already replased my tang but the shop also said it was a leech. They put it in their copper treated quarentine tank. Lets hope it gets rid of it!
