sounds good, you could also have some bog wood and a coconut cave my male loves his.
coconut cave? may have a think about that 1. bogwood i will add if not too rough for the fin n tail
just seen a coconut cave on another post and looks good

apple snails do get quite big.
so 1 is ok for that size tank?

Apple snail would be fine for that sized tank 
make sure you add a bit of bogwood (smooth) with some java moss if you're getting shrimps

The shrimps are a bit hit and miss, some bettas will chase them so you won't ever see them, and some will just leave them alone.

I have an Arc Arcadia, i just have my betta Jack in it, he wont allow anything else in there!!!

Sounds good, my boys weren't very impressed with cherries but it's down to the betta

It cost £39.99 from a local pet shop called Creature Comforts, there are online but cost a bit more.
I tried a little frog, he bit one of his toes off (it grew back!!)
I tried peppered corys, he bit their tails
I then discovered some little snails that mush have hitch hiked on the plants and he knockeds them off the side of the tank them chases them as they fall.
Its HIS tank & nothing is allowed in there!!!
may it have been different if he was last in there?
