getting 20k 150w for my orca tl550 this doesnt need actinics to look good does it? will it fry my softies and the bottom of the tank. New bulb should help rid of cyano algae as new bulb. i was told it doesnt need a fan coz a guy that had orca tl450 with it so i wont atm either to help cash flow and evap but will get one in a week or so. Probably a clip on desk fan should be ok? getting off of snapper aquatics are tehy ok????

I actually think i like the 14k and will go for them less blue and better coral growth i think ive actually researched this product lol

You probably won't need actinic supplimentation with a 14k. I don't with my 12k lamps...

How/where do you plan on mounting the bulb/ballast?

im completely modding my tank now im taking off the original lid and clamping it to the back with this fitting http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/CLAMP-ON-METAL-HALID...id=p3286.c0.m14 ive been tolld it will fit on glass up to 1.5 inches so that should be good.

Will i see a significant difference in light output from my 2 24w power compacts to my single 150w 14k??

Yeah, major difference. Beware, you might burn your corals. I'd start with a lowere photoperiod of like 4 or 5 hours and slowly ramp it back up to normal over a month.

ok thanks and i think i may get a clip on fan from an office store will this be adiquate for heat?

ok this is the light are u sure that 4hours isnt too long?
