has anyone kept these lovely fishies?

All i know is that they are commonly housed with cichlids and need a high PH...is the PH absolutely necessary to be in the high 8s? mine is in the high 7s

125l community tank, are they notorious fish eaters? as i know some catfish are!

and groups or no groups? min/max

not much to ask? lol :p

As long as they are tank bred, your PH should be fine. They do prefer to be in groups (in the wild they live in very large groups), even two together will be happy, but the more the merrier. They prefer lower lighting or lots of overhangs/floating plants to give them shade. And like all carnivorous catfish they will eat anything they can fit in their mouths, they are rather small so that helps, they will however hoover up any fry they can find. They will happily eat whatever you put in the tank and I've heard that if they are well fed they will usually ignore the other fish, but there's no guarantee. :good:

125 l

is big enough for about 4 given that it is longer than about 3 foot

they do not eat other fish but will eat fry and snails

they preffer to be kept in groups 4 or over other wise they can be territorial, they will do fine in your comunity

they are my favourite fish, they can be expensive, i have 2 pure breds and 2 hybrid

the pures were about 15 quid each and the hybrids were 2 for 14 quid :)
