Alright, I know before I even begin this sounds crazy but........my Gold Sailfin Molly Male looks and acts like hes pregnant....hes been getting bigger and bigger every day. Squared off belly. And I'm absolutely certain its a male. I have a Black Female Molly of which gave birth and ate all of her fry while I was away.

So anything I've read states only female molllys get pregnant and give birth. So what can be wrong with my Male????

I'm extremely new to Mollys let alone any fish. Had the water tested its fine. He looks like hes been pooping, hes had some white/stingy thing hanging rom him from time to time.

Any ideas....I know I'm not insane.

Elaine

White stringy poop is a disease symptom. I don't know if anyone in the livebearer section is good at diseases so you might do better posting in the Tropical Fish Emergencies section. There are folks over there who could probably help a lot with the issue.

White stringy poo = internal parasites, and the abdominal swelling can point that way too... can you get either praziquantel or levamisole? Either med will work.

Normal color for livebearers is more or less then color you would get if you mixed all of their food together. In most cases that is a light shade of tan. It is seldom stringy unless there are things like internal parasites.

define stringy

Usually the fish's waste will be in fairly short bits maybe 1/4 to 1/2 inch long. If they haven't been actively swimming around the tank it could get as much as an inch long. Stringy is long thin poop that is much longer than usual.
