Just thought I'd post a pic up of my new tank ... Fluval Roma 125l.

Mopani bogwood, few bits of slate and pebbles ... Java Ferns, Amazon Swords and Vallis ... also soon to have Riccia which is floating in a lunch box on the top until I attempt the hairnet trick :p

Tank has been cycling since Saturday ... and am now starting to see a drop in Ammonia :)

I can't wait to get some fish in there ... but don't worry ... I will wait

I've been resizing the picture that was took with my mobile for the last 10 minutes and the only way I could get it under the maximum allowed 100k was to make it tiny and save it as a .png ... so sorry for the small pic :(

well...

If i was a dead fish, then, that would be heaven!

Its stunning! It looks so immaculate, and crisp and beautiful!

wow, superb job mate! :good: :good: :good:

Thanks guys :)

This is my first attempt at a planted tank so hoping it goes well for me ... so much better than the plastic plants ... can't believe I didn't do it before

you do know about fertilizers and CO2 etc?

what lighting has your tank got? total wattage? and are the tubes an inch in diameter? or less?

I picked up some fertilizer earlier today ... don't ask me the name as I can't remember and I'm not with the tank right now :p ... one is a little dropper bottle that is added daily ... the other is a weekly I think ... still learning :)

I don't really want to get into CO2 just yet unless I have to ... and then it will only be the DIY route.

My lights are the standard that came on the tank ... 2 T8's ... 20 watts each I think :S

I take it you don't like the tank as you didn't say anything :/

the tank looks great!

what fertilizer did you buy? make sure it contains NPK or it isnt really worth the money.

you should be okay without CO2 but you may get a little algae growth and even if you did DIY CO2 it wouldnt be much use as it isnt very effective on a tank this size.

i would add some foreground plants such as:

Cryptocoryne parva
cryptocoryne becketti petchii
anubias nana
java moss
etc

No idea what NPK is :p

That's Riccia right there floating around the top in a lunch box ... waiting to be tied onto anywhere I can tie it too

NPK stands for nitrogen, phosphorous and potassium the 3 main plant nutrients, if you fert doesnt contain this i would buy one that does, do you know the brand name? and product name?

Unfortunately I don't know the brand name :( ... I'll find out tomorrow though and let you know :good:

It has a coloured wheel on the top of the bottle though with loads of letters ... some I think of what you mentioned if that makes any difference  I think indicating what it contains.

Well ... I've had a look at my fertilizer and it is "JBL" "Ferropol" and JBL Ferropol 24 daily dropper

Listed on the back of the bottle ...

"Provides your plants with iron, potassium, sulphur and the trace elements of manganese, molybdenum, zinc, boron, cobalt and copper in a form easily absorbed by plants."

"Provides and corrects deficiencies, such as a lack of iron and potassium"

That is the one that recommends weekly dosing ...

Then I have the daily dropper which has a colour wheel at the top with ... Co, B, Zn, Br, Li, Ni, J, Sn, Ti, Mn and Fe ... I have no idea what this means :p
