Leave it at least 4 hours before you add the med.
Don't forget to remove black carbon before you add the med.
I would just go in with half dose for now with the fry.
 
Meds in, carbon out and no stiffs today hurray........

Just need to wait now . . . . 10-14 days . . . .

holy (well u know what comes after) thats gross. i have heard that ick medicine will kill parasites.
 
Hi, had a good look this morning again some of the critters are turning Furry so it looks like I am on track.

However small spike in Ammonia between 0.25-.5ppm I have done two 20% water changes in last 24 hours but am now worried if I am diluting the Parazin, what do you think?
 
If you have to preform a water change just add the correct amount of med back to water removed.

It is, especially after them taking so long to breed 3yr's, I have around 8 little one left and lost another two last night.....
 
Hi, update - lost another two on Saturday but none yesterday, the critters should be dying off but they are still attached although not as sturdy looking as they were.

Just hope they are going in the right direction!!

Parasites cause bacterial infections.
How long have you got left to treat.
There another med and it dosn't alter water stats.
 
Hi, the meds said the paras should be clear between 10-14 days so next Monday, I presume I will need to put the Carbon back in to clear the meds then?

Good news - no losses since Saturday 31Jan.
 
Once you finished with the parasite med you need to back up with a bacterial med.
But you will need to run black carbon first to get the parasite med out of the tank.
 
When you say Bacterial med do you mean to kick start the Bio in the filter?

I have for the last three weeks been getting a spare filter up and running in another tank using ammonia and the fishless cycle method, it is about ready as the Ammonia is dropping off daily and the nitrate is starting to drop also.
About 16hours for the amm 5ppm to 0ppm.

Do you think it would be a good idea to run both filters together after I have used the Carbon?
