Guppy Giving A Virgin Birth?!

right so i bought 2 females and a male guppy 2 days ago and i just took a good long look at them today and noticed they look pregnant. according to the guppy pregnancy stage guide in the pinned topics, one guppy looks to be around stage 3 or 4 while the other looks to be in stage 5-7. their gravid spots are quite dark and they are quite fat looking (round from the front, wide from the top)

how is this possible? my lfs separated the females from the males. they even said they've been separated before maturity.

Even if these females were with males for only a day or so, they can store the sperm for several more pregnancies after that, sometimes 5-6. Perhaps they were not separated early enough, and the owner thought they couldn't breed yet, or something similar. It's hard to tell with Guppies, you'd be surprised how early they can breed. And if you miss it once, you can get fry for another 6 months or so.

So all in all, nothing to worry about. It looks like you'll have some fry soon from at least one of those females!
