My previous experience was spontaneous breeding of my (then) unwanted litter of Siamese..... I've had some good sales out of my (community tank of Bettas) over the Christmas period, and have (today) decided to set up a deliberate spawn to replenish my depleting numbers of Bettas......

Below are some photos of the introduction of the Male / Female.... in the breeding setup.... I'll progressively update these as the procedures develop.....

Oops!! sorry... I did not upload on Photobucket before starting this thread so a bit limited on the number of photos, but will post some more a bit later....

Just checked up before closing the garage,,,,, The bubble nest is in construction, The female is hiding.... All according to plan!... Will post photos of the nest in the morn.... Good night for now.

I'm conditioning mine now, hoping to breed in a week or so. Good luck with your two!

You're in a better position than I am... I just picked 2 randomly out of a community tank of Siamese.... About 20 in there (of which) 14 are females..... I'll condition as they progress....

What size tank are you using? I'm considering a little project similar to yours, and have a wide variety of tank sizes kicking around.

24" x 12" x 8"high..... 5 rocks stacked on one side to create crevices so she could confuse him, and about 4 pieces of 6" long hornwort floating on the far side away from the upright discharge of the undergravel filter (find these (undergravel filters) useful in creating infusoria when breeding Bettas).
