one of my neighbours just called round asking if we can give a kitten a home, apparently a friend of hers has a cat who'se just given birth and they're struggling to find homes for the kittens so free to a good home.

i know in my head that it's a silly thing to do, we've a small house and two cats already, but god I want one.

Want a little boy kitty called Oscar. :shifty:

How's the saying go???... It's more blessed to give than to receive (especially if it's kittens).... Think carefully gurl.... You're gonna be blessed with that for up to 20 years..... Strepies (below) has just turned 22.... & still going strong. (& I would'nt change for the world)!

Loads of pics in the non fish photo's section :good:

2 cats 3 cats no difference. my neighbour has 2 -10 year old cats, one tom who comes home about once a month and she cant catch the little devil to get him seen to, now she has just taken in 2 more kittens. They drive my dogs mad!

There is always room for a little one!

Do you allow your cats to roam outdoors? if so you should be able to accomodate number three no problem

Be sure to post pic's if you do!!

yeah they do go outside, the problem really would be space, we've a fairly small house and i think however many animals you have they need to be able to get away from each other sometimes. We've a 1 bedroom house so upstairs there's 1 bedroom, the bathroom and a small landing, then downstairs is open plan so effectively just 1 room. Not a lot of room for 3 animals to get away from each other if they want too.

Added to which one of our current cats is pretty boisterous, she's the daddy of the street, has claimed part of our road as her territory and she will defend it against any other cats who try to come into it.

So I'm not sure if putting another cat into the mix would be a wise idea or not.

I'm thinking if we got a boy cat he'd be a bit stronger and probably equally boisterous to Lu-Li which might keep her in check. Or it might just result in a massive fight between the two of them?

Anyway.... it's all theoretical, Ian say's I'm not allowed and that we don't need any more pets  I did say 'need' is a funny word to use relating to pets really isn't it! I don't think many people could genuinley say you 'need' another pet.

just read in another post that if you have two female cats they will scrap a fair bit but adding a third (male) cat to the mix can calm them down.

our two girls do fight a bit as i said above one of them is pretty boisterous, do people think adding a new male to the mix would calm them down a bit?

both girls are spayed and the boy would be neutered at the appropriate time so no risk of them breeding.

aww miss wiggle, you have to say yes....after some carefull thought of course..OR why not foster the kitten until a home can be found for him/her, we are lucky we have a house that is 3 storeys so Ember can get away from Baby, and, just for extra peace and quiet Baby comes to bed with me and sleeps either on the bed or in the sliding storage bit underneath, thats if they have a really busy day ,otherwise anyones bed will do
i hope wherever the kitten lives he/she will be very happy there... dont forget to remind Ian of the stress relieving qualities that cats posess..y`know,when hes had a busy day at work, the kitten would be there smiling when he got home, loving him to death.. and you could offer to clean the car for a month and cook for a week, and run him a nice bath ..well till forever.. there are ways to get around him MW.. good luck
shelagh xxxx

no point even pretending to foster the kitten.... i'd clearly keep it

ours is 3 stories but one of them is just the cellar which is full of junk and Ians tools..... as you can imagine it's kitty heaven but also quite dangerous for them so we try to keep them out of there as much as possible!

there's a flaw in the stress relieving argument though, we've already got 2 cats to do that

hmm cook for a week, run him nice baths, clean the house....... i do all that anyway!! ha ha

it's bad that i have a conscience though, i got a bit upset last night over something totally unrelated, when I cry Ian doesn't really know what to do all he knows is he wants to make it better for me, so he just reels off a list of things he can do for me so he was offering me girly films, chocolate, bottles of wine etc etc last night, then said 'shall we go get one of these kittens'. I said no cos I didn't want him to just give in cos I was crying then resent me for it later, would have been a bit harsh to take advantage of his good nature like that. But at the same time I'm now kicking myself that I didn't just go 'yeah alright then'.

ha ha
