I had read that the horizontal stripes meant stress and vertical meant happy or ready to breed and that the stripes occur because the coloring leave. I have had a female white betta and just thought she was laid back and always happy because I never saw any stripes :/

I recently bought a new blue female and when I put her in the new tank her horizontal stripes were very apparent.

My question then is because Belle is white will her stripes never show?

I am posting pics of both of them as I moved them into their new tank.

Crystal (blue)

They're beautiul! I love Belle's pure white color and Crystal's dark blue! They both must be very happy to live in that tank! :D

i always see them with horizontal stripes... didnt know it meant unhappy :(

they jus were always like that in the store... mine dont have them anymore... but they dont have vertical either.. if u feed em good foods like freeze dried thingies they will get their vertical stripes quite quickly... took mine like 3 days.. never did breed tho :(

i got lots of bubblenests tho in 1 gallon tanks... so i can jus throw that male in with a female thats rdy and have some fun wooo haahaaha

:kewlpics: belle looks jus like 2 of my females

Yes, Crystal is very blue now and happy.

My question is will stripes ever show on Belle being that she is white? I would like to breed her one day and have read that the vertical stripes are benefial is showing readiness

I'm afraid they won't show. I have your little white bettas twin. You may think you see them if you squint but they won't be prominent. If you ever breed her you'll just have to watch her and see if she swells with eggs and if she seems interested in the male. :)

They are very pretty girls.

i have a the triplet. That suks because mines ina chimney in a breeding tank. Now i dont know when she is ready. Should i just try breeding them in like a week maybe?

Let me know how it goes.
I might try the blue first to watch how she reacts to know what to watch for with Belle.

I have time as they are still so young.

Around what age are they usually bred?
