I wish I knew but they had him with the unlabeled fish that they didnt know what they are until someone comes in and tells them or they could look them up one. I just couldnt help my self when I saw him I had to have him. You know how that goes :dunno: :dunno: :dunno: :flex:

it doesnt look like it has the red looking dots does it the lines look the same but that is all to me.
 
i have searched the internet day and nite trying to find out what kind of pleco this one is with no luck at all cant anyone help me out on this one???? :dunno: :dunno:
 
I believe it to be the following:

Hypostomus punctatusValenciennes

Common Pleco, Pleco

Hypostomus with a brown colouration and spots are generally difficult to ID with any accuracy. This species has a light brown colouration with very dark brown spots but it is the fact that it is from the Rio Janeiro that makes the ID more reliable.

when my good camera gets out of the shop I will take better pictures I dont think he is a common pleco those spots are to red for a common pleco. you should see him when he gets mad they show up to be a bright red. I have kept many common plecos and I have never seen one with these kinds of colors before he has the marks like a Gibbiceps pleco but not the color.
 
You know, the closer I look at your LAST picture I realize that your pleco has the same body coloring as the common pleco that I listed, but yours has these red/orange spots on fins or feathers as I like to call them.

The closer I look at the photo the more it looks like my fish, my fish often changes to that kind of colour and then goes darker again. Is he growing fast?
 
I have had him for a month now if he has growed any I cant tell much he looks about the same to me I think that he could be the same thing as yours. I wish CFC would take a look at him mabey he could tell it really doesnt matter I would just like to know how bigger tank I am going to need i know I already going to need a real big tank for my irredecent shark I kinda need to know how big all of my fish are going to get so I will know money wise what I am looking at if you know what I mean.
