thankyou everyone for your replies and collin t we had an old dog called bonzo whos dad used too guard pigs keep them fit :D youve got two beautys there how old are they :D

Chloe's toy, the stuffed pink pig was given to Snuffy by one of my sisters. My sister didn't realise how big the pig was compared to the dog. The pig is almost as big as Snuffy. When my sister gave the pig to Snuffy she took one look at it and went to her bed. So Chloe decided she would adopt the pig as her toy. When we go walkies Chloe sometimes wants to take the pig too but she isn't allowed because the other dogs at the park would rip it to pieces in no time.

We've had Snuffy for a bit over 11 years. We're not sure exactly how old she is because she hasn't grown since we got her. A couple of years after we got her we asked the vet how old he thought she was. He said she looked like a 6 month old puppy. I said I hope not because we've had her for a couple of years already.
Chloe turned 8 at the beginning of June.

What's the difference between an Alsatian and a Shepherd? I thought they were the same thing.

sorry for the late reply colin_t . my dad did tell me but i just cant remeber something to do with each dog having different postures ill ask him post again the reply.we nearly didnt have squiggy 2 years ago but hes on the mend part from having steriods twice a week but he acts more like a puppy then banji half the time hes just come off a relaxing hoilday in the caravan with mum and dad

what happened to Squiggy that put him on steroids? He'll end up like Governor Arnold, I'll be back :)

i asked my dad the difference is in there manners germans shepards have had there aggressive side bred out of them and the alsation hasnt and there teeth and claws are alot different i knew it was something like that lol well two ears ago we noticed he was licking round his bum area alot and he yelped when ever we tryed to have a look so we took him to have a check up with the vet they put him to sleep and shaved the area it turned he had a lejan on his bum (i might have got the spelling wrong there ) its bascially a hole just at the top of his normal hole this is going to sound disgusting but when the vet put his fingers in they touched together which he said it was the worse he seen it and that it woulded heal in time it would get bigger until squiggy woulded eat or poo which was upsetting.but he filled the hole and it seems its done the trick it wont fully heal but it was better then anything and he put him on steriods so to try and stop it growing and to stop infection.we were al praying to help him make it as my dad did sighn a forum to say if anything went wrong then to put him to sleep but we have had him two years and savouring every minute with him.hes just gotta have check ups now again and to stay on steriods till the end of his day and to keep him off protein foods which is hard but he is still happy and bouncy and loves his holidays :D

german shepherds is the english name and alsation is the american name its still the same dog

It’s a bit disappointing to hear about Squiggy's bum, sounds pretty unpleasant for him too. But it is good to hear he has made it thru the last couple of years and is still going strong. I think if the animal has a good life and enjoys itself then it doesn't really matter how long they live. As long as they are happy during the mean time. Live life for today.

thats what we say and he is definately happy and i think banji keeps him young too, sometimes i feel like ive got triplets with banji squiggy and my son louis they run riot sometimes :D
