Great to hear hes doing well :)
As for dry foods, these guys are very similar to scooter blennies which I have one of and hes never eaten any dried food of any kind. Though he will pretty much eat any frozen on offer, his fav is blood worm which I feed as a treat twice a week, just sucks it up like spagetti..lol

hi mate. just fort ide drop a post as i 1 have recently purchased a mandarin though mine is a spotted 1 (ill post a piccy of it) And since i have added mine to the tank its a great little fish to watch bobbing around on all the rocks and realy exploring the whole tank. ive had it in there 1 week now and its doing great.

i was told at my lfs that they are very much scavengers when it comes to eatin and hunt in amongst the rocks for thre food, mine has been eating fine ever since day 1 so i guess it must be happy in my tank.

I purchased it along with a watchman goby and that 2 is doing brilliant and eats plenty of food which must be a good sign.

heres a piccy of my spotted mandarin

spotted are better arent they craig!

mines doing well as well in dont shoot me a nano! dont worry i watched it fed and monitered it for 2 weeks at work to see if it continued to eat frozen and it even come up to the surface area to get some. im thinking of getting her a male partner so shes not lonely, only one in the tank so i could attempt to breed, dunno how easy the spotted ones are though i know the greens can be bred.

interesting read about the omega 3 thats something i didnt know before reading.

as this is a topic about mandarins i fort ide post the story on mine i recently added to the tank.

Mine isnt the mandarin like yours its the spotted variety. i brought it just over a week ago and since adding it to the tank its been great, its taken to its food straight away which is a mix of frozen brime, frozen krill, frozen marine mix and flake food.

When i first added it to the tank it wasnt shy or stressed at all it was exploring the tank straight away which i gather must be a gd sign that it likes my tank.

8 days has passed now since adding it and touch wood ive come across no problems with it and ime very glad to have it in the tank.

heres a picture of it aswell.

Looks like your shrimp is about to take a bite out of the mandarins head

The mandarin is doing really well, very early days but positive none the less.

I've found an survey conducted by Oz Reef (sorry if this is a competitor site, cannot copy without their permission and this is totally on topic)

It focuses on food, tank, contents, competitors etc and segments them in 5 attribute categories and concludes that tank size, live rock and food competitors are the most important factors in keeping a thriving mandarin.

Its amazing how well the mandarins reacted to Rotifers! I have loads of frozen so will try mixing a few in the normal food tonight!!

Really worth a read!
