it could be stressed..... they normally rip out all of their feathers when they are stressed. ask check for parasites on the bird. you will need to handel it. which could also cause stress but if this is little critters then more problems could bearound the corner.

1. He has bruised his elbow on the sides of the cage. It can look like that, especially if he is biting at it.
2. Other birds did it.
3. Tumor. (not always deadly, but not uncommon.)
4. He is plucking- there are a number of factors someone else already stated that lead to plucking. Stress, parasites, bad diet, allergies- etc.
And so many other things!
Glad you are having him checke dout by a vet. Hope everything turns out well!

Happy to be back!!
I had a high strung green quaker parrot who ripped himself bald. I adopted him with that nervous condition and he always got those big red sores from picking where he already plucked. He looked like a raw chicken with a green head. Talked a blue streak,tho. Kinda miss the fella. I found him a nice new home,he hated women..I have scars from that damn bird. He likes his new daddy.

They are in a three foot cage with swings toys different sized perches so they aren't ripping feathers out from boardom. It must be a spider bite or tumor because it's really swolen and round. It's on the inside of her right wing. It's a huge mass, not like she's ripping her feathers out and their bleeding.
