GRRRR.
ANOTHER PERSON WITH PLATY FRY AND NOT ME.
nope im just kidding lol, she looks very healthy and looks like shes going to have quite a decent batch of fry.
good luck and have fun with watching her deliver them.
lol.

i really don't use breeder nets because if you rush her, the stress will make her not have the babies. i just provide her with lots of cover in the main tank, turn the light off and suck them up with a siphon when she's done.

I agree, breeder nets are no good, its stressful for the female. Its better just to get a 10 gallon tank move the female in and then just move her out after she births. This way the fry have more room to grow out and feeding and water changes are much easier. Also platyfanatic, really no way of knowing how much fry she will have by looking just gotta wait and see. I have had HUGE females give birth to less than 10 fry and small ones give birth to 40. Good luck with the fry cdoz :good: Hope you got a lot of food ready as they are small little eating machines.

well sometimes you can tell wether it will have a lot by it being heavy pregnant e.g the size of the gravid spot or most likely the belly size and etc

She hasn't given birth yet?? She doesn't seem to be as big anymore though. I hope she didn't absorb them back up. I might have stressed her putting her in the breeding trap. I am going to get a seperate aquarium for her to birth in, because she is in a community aquarium now and the fry would have no hope. Any other suggestions let me know. Thanks for all of the replies.

Nope, it could be huge and go through a stressful pregnancy or other things and have very few, until it has them you cant predict the amount with any certainty.

Well you could just let her give birth in the main tank and see if they survive, at least one is going to survive.
Anyway if i were you i would let the female give birth in the main tank and let nature take is chance. ;)
