it looks like fungus to me. it's in the exact same place as it was for my gourami, and she died

you could buy treatment for it, although that didn't work for me.
here is a picture of what my gourami looked like with the fungus disease, so that you can compare (bare in mind that when i took this picture, she'd had the thing on her back for some time so it is probably bigger than your cory's)
