Well, I got some antibiotics for my betta...he had some missing flesh...was told it was probably a bacterial infection...well, it's not any better, actually it's worse. I had him in a 2.5 gallon hex, but today I moved him into one of the 10 g that I have spare since I upgraded to a 55 g. I figure this will be a sick tank and the other will be a quarantine, if I get more fish. Anyhoo, does anyone have any more advice? He's still eating fine and pooping...well he's having a harder time finding his food, as the infection is interfering with one of his eyes. Here is a pic for you all.

Here is his new home...kinda empty, but I blew my fish budget for the next year on the new tank!

Gosh I'm sorry he's not gotten any better.
I dunno what to recommend. Maybe just continuing with the meds? Maybe try maracyn 1&2 or something? I dunno :(

He certainly is a pretty boy, and I hope he gets better. I think I would try the Marcyn 1 and 2. I sure hope he gets better for you. Good luck.

Sorry he's not better... could be a tumor, from the first pic it looks like it. In the pic it looks more like a bubble than missing flesh. There's not much you can do if he does have a tumor. Hope he gets better though :flowers:

I've been wondering how he's doing. God, he looks terrible! The poor little guy!
What are you medicating with? At this point, I would consider calling a vet for some advice. You may have to call around to find one who knows how to treat fish, but with something like that, particularly since it's continuing to spread, it's really hard to know what it is.
There is another forum that might give you some other ideas, the people there are pretty knowledgeable:

I'm treating him with Maracyn Plus. It's like the flesh is peeling away or peeling back. Poor baby is finding it harder to find his food. He's just trooping along too. :(
He's such a pretty baby, and he's a sweetie too. He knows me, and will follow my hand for food. He just can't really see it anymore...he keeps missing. I have to put bigger chunks of his freeze dried brine so he can actually get some...he's off by like 2 mm when he goes for a grab.

I'm thinking that after another round of the meds, if it gets worse, that I just need to put him out of his misery. How do I do that? I hate that he's like this.

There's a thread on euthinasia on here somewhere. I think it's somewhere in Tropical Fish Emergencies, either that, or you could have a vet do it out of sight and out of mind. I think option 2 would sit better with you.

Thanks. We live on a ranch/farm. I hate to do the deed, but I've done the deed before
