They did radiographs today, still don't know what the problem is, the vet thinks it might be boney lesions (?) in her spine, they really have no idea. They said she is chipper and is getting lots of hugs and kisses from the techs. They are doing an MRI tomorrow and a cerebal spinal fluid something or other, hoping changes in the fluids will tell them something.

it is costing thousands of dollars, nearly 2000 just for the MRI. but i have told my parents that i will pay for it all if need be, i don't know how much longer they will continue. I am just so upset. They are going to see her tomorrow night, and give her her ducky. I don't know if I can go or not. It will probably wreck me even more than I am now. I already haven't been able to eat or sleep since she went in yesterday. I am at a loss. She is so young, haven't even seen her first summer yet.

oh the poor little thing, you must be distraught.

It sounds like she's gettign excellent care though and I'm sure she'll be on the mend soon.

Thinking of you and her, hope she's well again soon.

We had to put her down last night. The vet said the paralysis was spreading and because she felt abolsutely no pain that it would be impossible for her to ever be well again. They said it was the best thing to let her go. So we drove up there late last night to say goodbye. I couldn't stay in the room. it was too difficult.

Must have been very distressing.
im sorry for your loss

Sorry for your loss- you did your best, nothing could have changed her fate, at least she is resting in peace now.

it just hurts so much. she was so young. and we still haven't any answers.

My goodness, I just read. How very sad. She was so very young! At least she had a good time with someone who cared for her a great deal. Did you get her from a breeder? If you did and if I were you, I would contact the breeder, just to let them know what happened. The owners of her littermates should also be contacted. It's still unclear as to whether or not this is a hereditary condition, but as it's been said before, Labs are a breed in high-demand and there are problems associated with in-breeding. It is better to be safe than sorry.

So sorry for your loss. I can't imagine how terrible you must feel.

Big hug for you.

She was from a home breeder. We called and told them monday night. They said they haven't heard anything from the other pups and that mom and dad are fine.

I am so, so sorry for your loss. Godspeed Lola, godspeed.

Were they able to find out what caused this? I am so sorry you had to go through all of this, especially with such a young dog.

Very sorry for your loss. A friend of mine lost a very young Labrador, he just died in the car on the way to the vets. Even the vet was in tears. They got another one a while later and he is fine. They haven't forgotten him though and never will.

Thank you everyone for your kind words. They really mean a lot to me. We have decided to do an autopsy to find out what it was, and maybe it can help other animals. Hard to think about, but the vet asked us if they could.

Here are some pictures of my baby.
