Okay so tonight I came home to find my one zebra danio stuck in an amazon sword plastic plant. Typically this doesn't happen because Danios are quick and smart. Well i did a little research and i'm pretty sure its Dropsy but I would like a second opinion or as many as you can add. Heres a pic...

So sorry but i have no idea. Sorry to see that your fish is injured, just wait it out and someone with good knowledge will answer you. Good luck!!!!

Looking at that pic it is hard to tell, the scales are not obviously protruding.

Can you get a pic from above, this would show more obviously if the scales are sticking out

Thanks
Aaron

Well i'm pretty sure its Dropsy but thanks for the help anyways.... By the way, water parameters don't mean everything the reason I don't post them is because you have to think of the situation, in this case that has absolutly nothing to do with my question. No offense i'm not saying this to be mean to anyone in particular because a lot of people ask for them when they are not relevant to the situation. Dropsy is caused by poor water quality but i'm asking for a visual diagnosis not a scientific one.

The water is a bit cloudy for an unknown reason. Everything is testing in its safe range. 0 ammonia, 0 nitrites, 20 nitrates, 7.2 pH, 120 total Alkalinity, and 50 for total hardness. With every water change the water get clearer but i dont have many fish in there so i'm going to be cleaning the entire tank out today.

As for a picture from above i tried but it is quite blurry and this morning now he is swimming around better but I had started treatment with Maracyn 1 and Maracyn 2 last night.

Thank you everyone for your help, I think the fish will be okay at least it looks that way this morning.

Well does it look like a pinecone from above? Are the scales sticking out?
It's really hard to tell what could be wrong from the pics you posted.
All it looks like is one seriously bloated danio.
Are you overfeeding by any chance?
Does it have trouble swimming? Is it pooing?

That fish isn't well it shouldn't be resting on the bottom.
If you think the fish is pretty strong get going with a bacterial med fast.

thanks, i'm treating with antibiotic now and he is swimming around now all the time... so he is on his way to recovery

Thats good then, don't cut the med to short.
Good luck.

So was it dropsy then?

Did the fish have the distinctive pine cone effect (of scales sticking out) when you looked down on it from above?

Great to hear its doing great!! Keep a watchful eye on all the other fish in case it was dropsy...its highly contageous.

The fish didn't look well and it was really bloated, maybe caught it just in time before the scales started to pinecone.
