Hi everyone i just wanted some advice on compatability as am fed up of LFS saying yes to everything that is blatently not compatible..

I Have a 190 litre tank with the following:

x2 clown loaches

x2 cory cats

and am thinking of purchasing a Para Pleco (L075) whats the maximum size these fish grow to? and also will they get along with the other 2 types i would be grateful for any input!

Thanks

ours is now a good 3 years old... and seems to have maxed out at about 6"...

Compatibility wise ours is fine - as long as no body tries to take his cave :D :D

I'll try and get some pics for you :)

Have you seen them about? Our lfs has a really small one for sale for £42!!!

Hiya thanks for the heads up! would appreciate some pictures

at the moment my clown loaches have occupied the cave! and absolutley hate it if anyone comes inside it!
the only place ive seen them for sale is on ebay ...tropical fish for you seller about £22! so i was thinking of ordering one of there.

I also noticed you have zebra plecs as your profile pic theyre beautiful fish! do you know anywhere i can get one or 2 at a reasonable price done a fair bit of research on them! know they are costly! and rare.

heres a picture of my set up....

Para plecos tend to get along with everyone in my experience, just make sure there are more than enough caves if you have a lot of bottom dwellers in the tank so everybody has their own bit of space  .
I have a para pleco, had him for a couple of years now (mines maxed out at around 5inches), here's some pics of mine if you are interested (recent pics top, older pics at bottom);

I've read somewhere that they do well with their own kind like clown plecos, although i've never seen anymore para plecos for sale since i bought mine years ago, i can't find the article though about where i read baout them being sociable with their own kind though, anyone else hear anything similar about para plecos?

I nearly bout 2 more and had a shot at breeding them - but never got around to sorting out a tank for them...

I've not kept ours (Rambo) with others of the same species... only a pair of L134's and now a load of starlight BN fry and 4 pitbull plecs... he keeps himelf to himself during the day but flits about socialising well after lights out ;)

Both your clowns and cories deserve to be with thier own kind, they need it. Add 2 more clowns and 3-4 more cories. You'll see more activity. Its just plain better and healthier.

P.S Do Para pleco's look like the picture I attached? Its just that the red pigmintation in my monitor has gone overbaord. Cant make out colours

Thanks for your advice everyone! and time to take pictures and upload them! they are stunning

at the moment i think what i will do is buy a couple more corys i kinda like the gray corry cats! but can't find panda corys anywhere near me other than Tropicalfish4u website!

at the moment my clowns are still tiny! so when they get a little bigger i will move them to a bigger tank! cant bare the thought of getting rid of them at the moment theyve been with me a year almost! unfortunately the third clown died a few weeks ago but before that the three lived and swam in sync with each other!

where abouts are you?

been to 3 local stores over the last few days and they all had pandas - quite small and relativley expensive (£5-6 each at about 1")

we moved ours last night and I tried to get some pictures...
unfortunately when I pressed the button he swished about leaving me with a lovey orange/beige/black blur... 4 times - then the batterys ran out :(

heya! everyone got my new para pleco today from tropicalfish4u.co.uk! good website delivery was a bit expensive but well worth it

he came a little stressed took about an hour to acclimatise him into the tank! hes happily sitting in the cave with the clown loaches! they dont seem to bother him and likewise

hes beautiful! ill try and get some pictures at the moment! hes too far in the cave! to even get one!

View attachment 44206hey everyone! finally got a picture of my para plec he seems to have settled in

okay but i never ever see him during the day! he seems to come and party when the lights come out
this was the best picture i could actually get of him

the other pic is how my tank looks at night and hes in full swing swimming about and playin with the clown loaches! theyre a v good mix together, until i got him a cave which kindly! smithrc! makes very well and for a very reasonable price!

thanks smithrc for the advice too and everyones great pictures! to help me buy him! his names "simba"
