Soo yesterday I got my new betta. this is my 2nd one. Sorry the pics arent that good. I got him at petsmart..i fell in love with his tail! hes a lil scared of me right now. he will hide from me and wont eat in front of me but i am hoping he will get used to me soon. hes really big! i didnt notice how big he was till i got him home.

EDIT: oh yeah... i fed him a lil bit yesterday and he ate and then i fed him a lil bit this morning and he spit some of the last piece up. idk if its b/c he saw me and got scared or what. does this mean he doesnt like the food? he has been eating it but when i walked in the room n looked to see if he was done eating he spit a lil bit up.

Wow! Beautiful betta!!!!
My bettas sometimes spit some back out but they usually always eat it again. I think its 'cos its too big or they cant chew it right so they spit it back out and have another go at it.

He really is pretty! Is he black and white?

Awe he is really beautiful!!

You may want to have a variety to for him until you figure out what he likes and what he doesn't. Usually the first week bettas are picky and it's hard to find what exactly they like until they settle into their new environment.

Best of Luck with him!!! :fish: :fish:

He is a dark blue and white. he even has a lil red on some parts of his tail but not much. right now i am feeding him the BettaMin Tropical Medley and last night for a treat I got him 2 of the Tetra Blood Worms. I think he likes those a lot. I was going to get him or one with a bunch of purple. but i couldnt resist his pretty tail! haha.

He's beautiful!! Congratulations! Yes, a lot of bettas don't really find their appetite for a week or more after bringing them home... the stress from bringing them home from the store, getting used to their new home, etc. My Max - it took about a 1.5 weeks before he ate normally.

I haven't heard of the Tetra bloodworms... are those the freeze-dried ones? If they are, I'd recommend you try the frozen ones... you just have to cut a chunk off of a cube and thaw them into some tank water. I use unused tweezers to feed them to my bettas (wouldn't want to touch them... ) I used them to feed Max when I was worried that he wasn't eating after so long... they sure got his appetite back. Freeze-dried anything more than often constipates bettas especially so I've been advised to stay away from them. Just passing along what I've been told.

Must just be me, but Ive had 5 bettas - 4 at the moment - they all ate like pigs the first day I had them! Greedy little things! Well there was 1, my little Ghost who was soooo thin when I got him he only had a couple pellets the first day or 2 but then he was being a pig too lol!

I do really love his colours he is amazing! Can you get any pics of him flaring up so I can admire even more...?

thanks everyone! i really like him. hes a lot diff than my 1st betta. i got him from walmart and he was very friendly at first.

catherine896--i'll try to get a pic of him flaring. its hard because he hides behind the plant when he sees me sometimes! haha. i was lucky i even got those pics up. im sure he will get used to me soon.

Maxsmom- yes those are the ones. it says on the bottle to only feed him 1 or 2 pellet thingys a week. i will have to look into what you suggested.
